Intro -x2-: A Asus4 A Asus2

Verse 1:
A Asus4 A
I wanna fall inside your ghost
  Asus2 A Asus4 A Asus2
And fill up every hole inside my mind
A Asus4 A
And I want everyone to know
     Asus2 A Asus4 A Asus2
That I am half a soul divid..ed

Chorus:
Bm E
Sometimes we will die and sometimes we will fly away
Bm Gbm E
Either way you're by my side until my dying days
Bm E
And if I'm not there and I'm far away

           A Amaj7 Gbm
I said, "Don't be afraid."
           A Amaj7 Gbm Asus4
I said, "Don't be afraid. We're going home."

Interlude -x2-: A Asus4 A Asus2

Verse 2:
A Asus4 A
I wanna strip myself of breath
   Asus2 A Asus4 A Asus2
A breathless piece of death I've made for you
A Asus4 A Asus2 A
A mortal writing piece of song will help me carry on
    Asus4 A Asus2
But this you heard

Chorus:
Bm E
Sometimes we will die and sometimes we will fly away
Bm Gbm E
Either way you're by my side until my dying days
Bm E
And if I'm not there and I'm far away

           A Amaj7 Gbm
I said, "Don't be afraid."
           A Amaj7 Gbm Asus4
I said, "Don't be afraid. We're going home."

Interlude -x2-: A Amaj7 Gbm

Verse 3:
A Amaj7
So the hearse ran out of gas
                             Gbm
A passenger person grabbed a map

And the driver inside it contrived a new route to save the past
A
And checked his watch and grabbed a cab
Amaj7
A beautifully plain taxi cab
Gbm
A cab, had it cleared out back and two men started to unpack

A
Driving once again
    Amaj7
But now this time there were three men
    Gbm
And then I heard one of them say,

"I know the night will turn to gray
  A
I know the stars will start to fade
   Amaj7
When all the darkness fades away
  Gbm
We had to steal him from his fate

So he could see another day."

A Amaj7
Then I cracked open my box
                             Gbm
Someone must have picked the lock

A little light revealed the spot
                            A
Where my fingernails had fought
                       Amaj7
Then I pushed it open more
                       Gbm
Pushing up against the door

Then I sat up off the floor
                                      A
And found the breath I was searching for

                              Amaj7
Then there were three men up front
                         Gbm
All I saw were backs of heads
                                                         A
And then I asked, "Am I alive and well or am I dreaming dead?"
                              Amaj7
And then one turned around to say,
                                  Gbm
"We're driving toward the morning sun

Where all your blood is washed away
                           A
And all you did will be undone."

Interlude: Amaj7 Gbm

           A Amaj7 Gbm
I said, "Don't be afraid."
           A Amaj7 Gbm Asus4
I said, "Don't be afraid. We're going home."

ok does anyone else understand the biblical undertones or is that just me who finds that in most of self-titled???

Alien balloons at the disco!

No, you’re not the only one. As a Christian I notice it in every album. Maybe I’m just putting it on the music because of my faith, but Taxi Cab especially means a lot to me for that reason. Whether that’s what Ty was going for or not, it’s definitely there. :)

Shh

I agree

EasyPeasyPumpkinPeasyPumpkinPieMotherfFluffer

Ty Comes From A Religious Background, And Still Is Today. Personally, I Do Not Practice A Religion But I Still Find Some Religious Messages In The Music, It Warms My Heart A Bit And I Dont Know Why! ||-//

Tylerrjoseph

Tyler writes most of his songs with biblical reasons, you can see it more on his older stuff rather than the newer stuff though. So your not wrong believing that. He is just a very religious person.

ExcuseMeCouldYouPleaseLeaveJkStayStreetFren

He definitely writes his music from a Christian perspective, and self titled is almost entirely so. Almost the entire album is a cry to God, and its so beautiful to hear <3 Also songs like screen, goner, the judge ect. are beautiful examples. Go to Genius lyrics to see all of the biblical references.

Sarah

I find instead of asus2 just bar the first 2 strings on the fourth fret. It doesnt work perfectly but its alot easier and sounds pretty good

TwentyOneBilliesAtTheDisco ;)

that works SO much better!!! tysm. the chord is an Esus4. i would have never have figured that out on my own and i reaaalllyy needed it!! ||-//

EXCUSEMECOULDYOUPLEASELLEAVE?

I use +3 its easier for beginners (like way easier) and it sounds really good!

ToggnJog

I play it at -2 because I find the chords easier

boop

I love playing this song to destress (:

Cole

anyone know how to play the chorus? I have it transposed (+3), by the way. I just want to know how to strum it.

DunderMiff101

I think it sounds best strumming only once.

ExcuseMeCouldYouPleaseLeaveJkStayStreetFren

im loving how all of the ppl in the comments have clique-related names <3 but frens who thinks Asus2 sounds awful? like i'm trying to play it and it doesn't even work at all. aside from the fact that it is impossibly difficult. anyone else? ||-//

wrecked.ruptured

you can use E, it’s not exact but it is better
|| -/

EasyPeasyPumpkinPeasyPumpkinPieMotherfFuffer

I put the capo on the 2nd fret (transpose to -2) the cords are a bit strange but it sounds good and it easy to play ||-//

Sky Blue

The chord shown is not the correct one. Asus2 should start on the second fret, not the first – so it should be: bar the second fret, third finger on C string fourth fret, and fourth finger on E string fifth fret. Hope this helps!

HeiHei Piderman

One that also works for the verses is A, Asus4, A, then E; technichally the song does go to Asus2 like it says above, but then it quickly resolves to an E major chord. So just playing the E major in this case makes it sound better.

Tyler’s Ukulele

It works better like that except with an Esus4.

That emo kid who plays ukulele

I’ve found that A Asus4 A Esus4 sounds good and is easy to play on 0

dunsforhands

anyone have any suggestions for the rap part? I just can’t get it to sound right?

Michael

Turn th Amaj7 into a C#m and it should sound good
