Community Guidelines

Last updated: 23 July 2026

In plain English The comments under each song are for talking about the music. Be kind, stay on topic and keep it clean. No spam, no hate, no nastiness. Anything that breaks these rules is removed, and I read reports quickly.

UkuTabs is a free resource that I (Jonas) have run since March 2012, used by ukulele players of every age and skill level. The comment sections under songs, guides and articles are here so players can help each other, swap tips and share what they love about a song. These guidelines keep that space friendly and useful for everyone. They apply to every comment, profile and other contribution you make on UkuTabs.

1. What the Comments Are For

The best comments help other players. You are very welcome to:

  • Ask or answer questions about a song, its chords, strumming or tuning;
  • Suggest corrections, alternative chord shapes or easier versions;
  • Share how you play a song, or a capo position that works well;
  • Say thanks, or request a song you would love to see added.

2. What Is Not Allowed

To keep UkuTabs welcoming for players of all ages, please do not post:

  • Spam or self-promotion. Advertising, repeated links, affiliate or referral links, or promotion of your own site or channel outside the topic of the page;
  • Hate or harassment. Hate speech, bullying, personal attacks, threats or content that targets someone for who they are;
  • Profanity or vulgarity. Crude, offensive or aggressive language;
  • Adult or explicit content. Sexual, violent or otherwise adult material;
  • Off-topic conflict. Political arguments and other disputes that have nothing to do with the song;
  • Unsafe or unlawful links. Links to pirated, malicious, commercial or otherwise inappropriate websites;
  • Other people's private information. Anything that identifies or exposes someone without their consent.

In short, if it is not about the music and it is not kind, it does not belong in the comments.

3. How I Keep Comments Clean

Comments are moderated. Every comment passes through automated checks before it can appear:

  • Bot and abuse protection. Cloudflare sits in front of the whole site and blocks bots, abusive traffic and automated posting.
  • Spam filtering. Every comment is checked by Akismet, a machine-learning spam service, which automatically blocks known spam and abuse patterns.
  • Profanity and link filters. Comments containing profanity or other banned words are blocked automatically, and any comment with several links is held for manual review.

Comments that clear these checks appear straight away. Anything the filters flag is held for me to review by hand, and I check new comments regularly.

4. Reporting a Comment

If you see a comment that breaks these guidelines, please tell me. You can use the report option on the comment itself, or get in touch directly. I aim to review reported comments within 24 hours, and usually much sooner. Genuine reports are always welcome and never a bother.

5. If the Rules Are Broken

I may edit or remove any comment at my discretion, and I do not have to give a reason. Comments that break these guidelines are removed. If someone keeps breaking them, or posts anything hateful, harmful or illegal, I will block them from commenting and may close their account. Serious or unlawful content is removed on sight and reported to the authorities where the law requires it.

6. A Note for Younger Players

Plenty of the people learning their first song here are children. Please keep everything you post family-friendly, as if a beginner of any age might read it next. It usually will.

7. How This Fits With the Rest

These guidelines sit alongside the Terms & Conditions, which cover your account and the content you submit, and the Privacy Policy, which explains what happens to the name, email address and comment text you provide when you post. By commenting on UkuTabs you agree to all three.

8. Questions

Anything unclear, or want to flag a problem? Email [email protected] or use the contact form. Thanks for helping keep UkuTabs a kind and helpful place to play.
