C G
There’s no need to complicate our time is short
Am F

C
I've been spending' way too long checking' my tongue in the mirror
G
And bending' over backwards just to try to see it clearer

Our name is our virtue

No more, it cannot wait I’m yours

Verse:
     C
Well open up your mind and see like me
G
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Am G
Look into your heart and you'll find, that the sky is yours

So please don’t, don’t please don’t
- There’s no need to complicated -
Cause our time is short
This is, this is, this is our fate
I’m yours

alyssa

its better to bear it so ya sikn will be layered and thats way better than a bandage can offer!

Rod Howard

Sarah, if you still have finger issues, try a product called Rock Tips. It is liquid callouses for your finger tips. Ise until you get your real callouses.

Alethea V.

I have finger calluses on my finger calluses!

ArrowMaster625

Oh no! The calluses have returned to kill the fingers! :(

Claire

Ikr!

Sap

Emma

On Amazon find the “Hola!” brand, I got mine for about $20 and they stay in tune! They are an unexpensive and they are good for just having fun with it. I have had mine for about 3 years now and it STILL stays in tune for months at a time.

EmilySixx

Possible dumb question and maybe I just didn’t understand what you actually said but what do you mean by “stays in tune for months at a time.” Not even top of the line ukuleles do that cause it’s just not possible lol.

Scarlet Webber

I think they meant that you it pretty much just stays in tune, like you just have to maybe tune up a small mount instead of having to tune for ten minutes

Scarlet Webber

But I’m not sure if that is what they meant, I’m just assuming

Stacey

I’ve been playing for two years but this quarantine is making me learn a lot of new songs and this one is
Gold!!

emma :)

my fingers are just about ready to fall off

Echo

Haha, yep! I’ve been playing the uke for years now, but quarantine has given me the opportunity to branch out and learn a slough of new songs. As much negativity that surrounds the situation, there’s at least a little good in it.

Le Difnai

Aww. Same here. Happy much. :)

Skelly Clique Uku

I have been playing for so long but this made me practice 99% of the time now… lol

Chloe

Emily

Oh you’ll be able to be more than can if you believe it. I first started thinking I was going to go nowhere but here I am playing chords and learning songs in the snap of a finger. So remember the sky’s the limit and you got this.

Kat

I taught myself so I think you can too!

sara.coult

Of course you can! I taught myself and I have a friend who self taught herself how to play the uke. It’s the perfect thing to do in quarantine, learn a new instrument, or the best instrument, the ukulele!!

The King

I did. Someone taught me C Am F and G, and I took off from there.

Pan potato

I learned how to play from YouTube and this app.

Jillian

I was required to take a ukulele class in 6th grade and i decided that I LOVED it and I kept playing. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!

Sav

Lonny

Ya I got it a week agoooo

Dsdacs

Got nothin’ much to do .. Got tired of playing online games tho, just remembered how I envisioned myself to be a musician when I was younger years back .. So I grabbed my very old ukelele then started hitting every key like a pro .. Well, I do need some confidence on this one .. 😂😂😂

Funny how you guys only started because of quarantine, never give up the talent, not many people have this talent

taehyung in bandanas are the cause of my euphoria

I had forgotten all about my ukulele until quarantine and now i play like, everyday. My fingers are in pain but my soul is happy.

Ella

8 months and we’re still quarentined lol

BumbleDragon

Hey! I’ve been reading the discussion here and I wanted to give you guys some song suggestions to keep you guys occupied and improving! Some songs that I would recommend to help learn how to change chords quickly are Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darin (at -2 on this website if you want the original key) and if you want something a little easier you could try Introducing Me by Nick Jonas, I think it’s a super cute song. I would also recommend learning some finger-picking patterns! It can make the song have a lot more depth, it can harmonize with singing better, and just overall make the song more interesting. (Plus you sound and look like you’re way more advanced) A good song to start off with for that is Someone like you By Adele, just starting off with a
3 2 1 2 pattern and working up to something a little more challenging like maybe Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley or Love of My Life by Queen. And start to experiment with plucking multiple strings and shifting more than you’re used to. For Love of My Life, I use 3&1 2 3 4&1 2 3 4 for each chord and then I repeat for the next chord. And finally, really challenge yourself with both of these aspects. One difficult song that I recommend you guys try to learn is Guava Jam. It’s super pretty, very island-ey and just has all around good vibes :) This is just my two cents as someone who’s been playing for a while. I love seeing people trying new things and learning and making beautiful music with such a fun instrument! Stay safe y’all!

Rylee

I’ve heard some of those songs before and they’re really good. I love that you’re encouraging others to have an open variety :)

Savannah

I think doing DDUUDU is good for the strumming pattern

TheDailyLemon

Personally, I think just DuduDuduDuduDudu
is better if that makes any sense. I have NO idea how you guys portray any of this. The bold means a hard thrum, the lower ones are softer. its a 4/4

Uku

I actually think that one strum down and then hold the strings better suits this song

Sophie M

<3

PurrPle Roof

Same. That is the strum pattern I always use but this song works the best for it

Lizzy

I’ve always used D D UDU

sabrinamcgov@gmail.com

this song is for plucking

REE

Dddudu

justine

I got DUDDU DUDDU

Abby

For this song, I usually do D DU DUD

Coward

This song is amazing and super easy… im new at playing the uke so im super glad one of my favorite songs is super easy to play

potato

I’m not new but I love this song

3mm@

Welcome to the ukulele playing club😄

Emma

I’ve found that the chords (for me. Maybe I just play too fast?😂) are a bit too late. I play them a word or two before it says to.

Emma

Actually it is mainly on the chorus. The Am and F I play earlier. I am replying to my own Comment bc I don’t think I can/can’t find where to edit it lol

sandwich thief

Yeah, I’ve been doing the same thing. I think it sounds better that way.

emma

same here! it just helps with holding some notes while you sing too!!! also my names emma too hahaha

Phi

SAME

Phi

me too!

Mark

Pay no attention to where the chords are in relation to the words. It’s completely off.
Most phrases start with a pickup note, where the first word of the phrase is actually in the previous measure…

Just change chords on the 1-always and sing it like you’ve heard on the record.

Sam Schoenke

Yeah that’s what I do too.

Echo

Yeah, that happens frequently to me when I use this website. I always have to go back and listen to the song (if I don’t know it well) to try and time the chords right with the words. Not too big of an issue, but still a little irksome. ^^

Invisible Girl

Yes, I got my ukulele when I was 9. I never picked it up, thinking it would be too hard. But a couple of months ago I picked up a Christmas ukulele songbook and took the easiest chords from it- F, G, and C- and wrote a song. It was one of the best songs I have ever written PLUS the fact that it had music made it better. Now that Quarantine has started, I have nothing better to do. I’ve started posting myself playing ukulele on youtube and started going out on my front porch to play for the people to make them happy. My fingers are peeling right now and even though my brother yells at me all the time to “please stop playing”, I hope this is a hobby I can keep for a long time.
The End.

Dean Maclean

whats ur utube

PleaseTeachMeHow.exe

Whats your youtube? I’d love to hear you play!

Emily

Keep doing what your doing and you’ll make the world just a little bit brighter

Iguana

How are your strings still alive?

HELLO!!

wats your youtube??

Miesmaly

Why are there so many dislikes???

krhgcelg05

how do you play the riff at the beginning and the outro at the end??

emma s

this is for the end outro: i play each chord twice with like a pause in between but i also sing the words like this, “so please dont, please dont, please dont” so here like this

“so please (down strum c) dont, please dont, please (down strumc) dont
theres no (down strum g) need to complaaaa (down strum g) cate
cause our time (down strum am) is short
oh this (down strum am) is our fate (down strum f)
im (yours f)

but like strum on the words let me know if you have any questions!

sophie

i use the strum pattern DUXUDUX (X=chnk)

Your.Fellow.Weeb

What does chnk mean?

GGingerSSnap

I’m not sure but I think they might be meaning a rest…?

oop

it means to chuck/kinda hit the strings but not hard

mia

like you strum the uke but mute the strings with your strumming hand at the same time

SushiRoll

It means scratch

annabethlester

it means to chuck (hit the strings with the heel of your hand to mute :)

HELLO!!

sorry wierd question. . . whats the chnk??
X]
