Hey so fair warning everyone this song is about date r*pe. Blatantly.
I am a huge Will Wood fan and unfortunately when I’ve seen women complain that this song sickens them, they are bombarded with “no, no, it’s okay because Will is a good person!” Or “it’s okay because it’s actually a CRITIQUE of r*pe culture.”
I don’t give a sh*t. I am not saying that Will is morally in the wrong for writing this, I’m not saying that anyone is in the wrong for enjoying it. I am saying that this song makes me sick to my stomach and I need other women who feel the same way to know that that is OKAY. I’m not trying to condemn Will, his music is edgy and he’s calling out r*pe culture in his own way, which is great for those that can handle such a blunt discussion about it. I can’t, and it’s okay that I can’t. Hell, there’s a soundclip from Dennis Reynolds in this song and I love Always Sunny and haven’t been made uncomfortable when the show makes dark jokes about Dennis assaulting women. For me, Always Sunny finds a way to point at r*pe culture that does not disturb me but Will Wood just did not hit that note quite right.
