Intro -x2-: D G Bm

Verse:
D G Bm D G Bm
Man, you really know how to get someone down
D G Bm D G Bm
Everything was fine, until you came around

Chorus:
                A G
And I’ve been chasing after dreamers in the clouds
     A G
After all wasn’t I the one who said
   G G G Em
To keep your feet on the ground

Man, you really brought me back down

Chorus:
G D A
Hold onto hope if you got it
G D A
Don’t let it go for nobody
G D A
And they say that dreaming is free
G D A
But I wouldn’t care what it cost me

Verse:
D G Bm D G Bm
You got me tied up but I stay close to the window
D G Bm D G Bm
And I talk to myself about the places that I used to go
                   A G
I'm hoping someday maybe I'll just float away
                   A G
And I'll forget every cynical thing you say
               G G Em
When you gonna hear me out

Man, you really bring me down

Chorus:
G D A
Hold onto hope if you got it
G D A
Don’t let it go for nobody
G D A
And they say that dreaming is free
G D A
But I wouldn’t care what it cost me

Bridge:
Em A
     Reality will break your heart
Em A Em
Survival will not be the hardest part
A Em
It’s keeping all your hopes alive
A
When all the rest of you has died

So let it break your heart

Chorus:
G D A
Hold onto hope if you got it
G D A
Don’t let it go for nobody
G D A
Hold onto hope if you got it
G D A
Don’t let it go for nobody
G D A
And they say that dreaming is free
G D A
But I wouldn't care what it cost me

  1. Try with D DUDUDU or DD UDU or DDU UDU, i think that it sound good with any of them

  2. dyingorliving

    strumming pattern plsssssss

  3. I find that the best way to play this is by doing a sort of finger picking pattern.
Hold the chord and pick the 2nd string, then the other 3 after
For the beginning play D with the finger picking 4 times, the G twice, and then the Bm chord twice, repeat.

  4. +5 looks easier

    • Caroline |-/

It may look easier, but 0 is the original key and is the exact same chords just in a different order to pitch it higher.

  5. i have been waiting for this for SO long, thank you!!!

  6. Thank you so much for putting “26” on here! It is by far my favorite off of After Laughter (even though Hard Times, Tell Me Why, Pool, and Rose-Colored Boy are pretty great) and I’ve been looking for a version of this!
