Intro:
    G A D Bm
    G A D

    G A D Bm
She held the world upon a string
    G A D
But she didn't ever hold me
G A D Bm
Spun the stars on her fingernails
       G A D
But it never made her happy
          G A D
Cause she couldn't ever have me
    G A D Bm
She said she'd won the world at a carnival
    G A D
But she could never win me
          G A D
Cause she couldn't ever catch me

G A
I, I know why
        D
Because when I look in her eyes
       Bm A G
I just see the sky
                   G
When I look in her eyes
     A D
Well I, just see the sky.

D Bm
I don't love you I'm just passing the time
D Bm
You could love me if I knew how to lie
    A
But who could love me?
     G
I am out of my mind
G A
Throwing a line out to sea
   G A D
To see if I can catch a dream.

Interlude -x2-: D G A D

    G A D Bm
The sun was always in her eyes
G A D
She didn't even see me
G A D Bm
But that girl had so much love
      G A D
she'd wanna kiss you all the time
      G A D
Yeah, she'd wanna kiss you all the time

    G A D Bm
She said she won the world at a carnival
        G A D
But I'm sure I didn't ruin her
     G A D
Just made her more interesting
    G A D
I'm sure I didn't ruin her
     G A D
Just made her more interesting

G A
I, I know why
        D
Because when I look in her eyes
       Bm A G
I just see the sky
                   G
When I look in her eyes
     A D
Well I, just see the sky.

D Bm
I don't love you I'm just passing the time
D Bm
You could love me if I knew how to lie
    A
But who could love me?
     G
I am out of my mind
G A
Throwing a line out to sea
   G A D
To see if I can catch a dream.

the actual chords are:
d#/eb, f, a#, and gm.
for example:

d# f a# gm
she held the world upon a string

d# f a#
but she didnt ever hold me

noahfence

i agree, also those chords are -4 on the transposer! :)

oliweekes

hey does anyone know the chords for the key of the original song? I can’t figure it out

.

I think the -5 sounds really good but I find it to be easier to set it to -7 and put a capo on the second fret

bella

does anybody have a good strumming pattern?

panic! in the forest

i just pluck at the strings at once and though it’s the one used in the song it sounds really good

Larkin

How do I do the E chord??? Idk

Expendonia

With immense difficulty

mia

-5 sounds closer to the original, use the plucking in the comments above for intro and outro and replace the A (in -5) in the “because when i look in her eyes…” with a C#m7, sounds better to me

Sydney

Yo

GirlWithAName

-5 sounds closer to the original :/

Gracie

I think you’re absolutely right ! The correct and original song is the exact same!

KmiSugey

Hi!!! The chords sound better at -3 and the chords in that tone are F,G,C,Am ;)

:)

For the original key: the “when I look in her eyes” part isn’t D, it’s F#7!! :)
