14 ukulele chords used in "An Awkward Duet" by dodie: A, Bb, Bbm, B, C, C7, Dm, Dm7, E6, F, F7, F6, Gm and G7

Ok ok so there’s a lot. I’m just gonna bullet it (includes strumming sequence!)
– the f6 can just be barred on the 5th fret of the ukulele
– I have NEVER used the B chord in this song- just replace it with b flat
– I have also NEVER used the c7 chord in this song- just replace with c (easily done by sliding up 2 frets from b flat)
– f7 can be played on the 5th fret with an added finger on the 6th fret on the a string
– In the video, the f and gm chords are played up in the higher frets, f being a bar of the 5th fret and an added pinkie on the 8th fret of the a string, and the g mimor with an open g string and a finger on the 5th fret of a, 6th fret of e, and 7th fret of c (basically a really high e minor but a different chord, ya feel me?)
– To add to the awkwardness, I saw in a video (I forget where, if you know you can credit) that by pressing down and lifting your fingers on the chords can give it a more awkward feel. Works for me!
– the strumming pattern I use for this is DDDUD DUD DUD and then switching to the normal DDU UDU for the chorus
I’m obviously not a professional, and I don’t know the complete correct terms for everything. This is just what I have to say. So yeah! Hope this was helpful…
why..do..some..of..the..chords..have..different..names..but..are..still.the..same..chord?..it’s..so..confusing!!!P.S…my..space..bar..is..broken..so……yeah..-_-
PEOPLES!!!!!
Yes the chords are WRONG!!!!
go YouTube: an awkward duet ukulele teacher!!! His voice is TERRIBLE, yes!!! But he has the correct chords!!!!
This did not sound right to me…soo…
In the video, Dodie just bars the fifth fret to replace the F6 chord
The B should actually be a Bb 🙂
just saying but most of these chords are wrong
this is completely wrong! it doesn’t sound anything like how she plays it! i’ve had to write down the chords and figure them out by myself by watching her video and listening to it! Very bad, please correct it!
So excited to see more Dodie on here!
down down down up chuck up up chuck up up chuck
I do DDDU- UUD-UUD and change the B to Bb
Strumming pattern for most of the song: DDDU, UUx UUx
verses – f6 dm f6 dm bb c7
chorus – bb f6 g7 bb c7
In between each stanza – -F6 Dm- x2
not the best but its what i do, i replace f6 by baring 5th fret
Finally sensible person pointed it out!
So play if Y’all want to play this song exactly correct just go to youtube and search the song and then “the ukulele teacher” he will teach I used both this site and his channel.
eh +2 is a bit easier but could just be me
these chords aren’t completely wrong! dodie just uses alternate fingerings. for example, for F6, she doesn’t use the regular dm7 fingering, she barres the 5th fret. the one mistake i found was the first chord of the chorus is just a B, not a Bb. hope this helped xx
Verses: A should be replaced with Adim7, B should be replaced with Bb or Bbadd9 if you’re advanced and would like to.
Chorus: B should be Bb.
Everything else can be played as is and works very well. Hope this helps!
For the beginning i use Dm7 to F
This was great! Thank you so much for making it! It was hard to figure out at first but then it was easy.
