  • Misamoosa says:

Such a beautiful song, well done and put together. I’m glad this song came out but maybe the other songs from this movie too? Such as “shiny” or “you’re welcome” but thank you so much!!!! 😄

  • eliananeill says:

The author is not Alessia Cara…

    • coolstorybro says:

she sings the version on the radio

    • ukuholliee says:

its not author, its artist. and alessia cara made her own version of the song on the moana soundtrack so technically she is the artist.

      • samoan_pride23 says:

@ukuholliee Alessia Cara isn’t the artist to “How Far I’ll Go.”
What she did was a cover, she didn’t make her own version. Lin Manuel Miranda is the one who wrote the song. And FYI people who write music are not authors. I am a 8th grader and I know better. Just pointing out the truth behind the whole “How Far I’ll Go” song.

      • eliananeill says:

Yeah I know but I think the real authors should get credit

      • Sandra Michelle says:

Not really. She made the song for the soundtrack so it really is her song, they just asked her to make it for the movie.

      • Mk_Singer says:

I wouldn’t feel so obligated to protect Alessia. She has way more fans than she should with her unclear and kind of raspy voice. Yeah she’s an artist, but the true and original artist of this song is not her, but Auli’i Cravalho, similar to how the original artist of Let it go is Idina, not Demi

      • boi says:

Dude not to be rude or anything but, people who aren’t 8th grader are smart too… :(

    • TravelPastel says:

But this arrangement is by her

    • feyza says:

alessia cara also sang it :)

    • JediUketheForce says:

Actually, Alessia Cara did write the song, with help from Lin-Manuel Miranda, and it was performed in the movie “Moana,” by Auli’i Cravalho.

    • ItzMehHaiHai says:

Alessia Cara wrote the song for the movie.

  • TravelPastel says:

This was so amazing! Great chords, I’ve been waiting for this song! Now I can play to my Disney-loving sister.
I like playing at -1. It’s not too easy, but hard enough to challenge me a bit.

    Thanks!! ^O^

  • TravelPastel says:

I would also say that if you transpose 3 half steps up, it’s much easier ^O^b

  • majaatthedisco says:

    -4

  • litt013 says:

    -4 is easiest

  • Gigi2 says:

The singer is not Alessia Cara it’s Auli’ Cravalho (no quite sure how to spell her name)

    • samoan_pride23 says:

Thank you!!!Dude you just saved me from this argument. Auli’i Cravalho sings it but Lin Manuel Miranda wrote it.

    • addict.with.a.uke says:

In the end credits, Alessia Cara sings the song again.

    • musicalanomaly says:

Alessia Cara did her own cover of the song on YouTube, and that’s what this version here is :) but other than that you are correct, the original singer of this is Auli’i Cravalho

    • nah says:

this is the orig version by alessia not the singer from the movie

    • hammydee says:

Actually, this version is Alessia Cara. Auli’ Cravalho (you got it right) is the voice of Moana and does sing this in the movie, but during the end credits, Alessia Cara sings it as well.

    • ghetto.stilettos says:

alessia cara also sings this lol

    • Sasha says:

For the film, it was sung by Auli’i Cravalho, because she voiced the character. Alessia Cara released before the film. The version by Auli’i Cravalho is from the soundtrack.

  • Katie says:

I love playing to this song. When I first heard this song I said Alessia Cara or someone else. This song is in my head 24/7. But that is good because when I start to sing this song people start getting closer to me so they can here my ” magnificent”vocie

  • Katie says:

This song inspired me to sing a lot I sing front of people I sing at talent shows in front of my parents which really doesn’t happen! LOL. When I first started the sing I was so scared it was first at my 4th grade talent show and I had to run off stage and you can get realy scared. That was the most scariest day of my life.

  • sushi says:

this is the auli’i cravalho version

  • Sam says:

Everyone saying the artist isn’t Alessia Cara, this rendition is the Alessia Cara version. The original doesn’t change notes at the end or have an interlude in the middle. Calm tf down.

  • You'll never know says:

Does anyone know a different chord besides Dbm???

  • Lydia says:

-4 is somewhat easier. It’s just that key change that makes it so difficult!!

  • Twenty_One_Pilates says:

I got to watch this movie while babysitting last week and loved it, though I did miss giant chunks because a little girl kept yelling,”Let’s fight!” in my face.

  • Sophie says:

The last note of this song sounds better if you just play a C but it doesn’t matter.

  • Loopy says:

whats the strumming pattern? Like how do you play it if it’s not all strumming too?

  • Dan says:

Guys, the amazing man that wrote the song was Lin-Manuel Miranda. He wrote a majority of the music for Moana. He’s the true artist of this song and if anyone should get credit as a singer for it, it should be Auli’i Cravalho.

  • Macie-ukulele says:

    Strumming pattern?

  • jaz says:

This song is so awesome I love this song so much and I would like to say thank you to Alessia cara

  • Deja says:

There are two versions actually. There’s the Alessia cara version and the first Auli’ version. Same notes, same song, just different singer

  • Lyann says:

    Whats the strumming pattern?

    • bookwormcho says:

Lyann (and everyone else asking for strumming patterns), Ukutabs itself can’t give us strumming patterns due to copyright issues. Just listen to the song and strum along, you’ll get the hang of it.

  • Even North says:

    Sounds great, thanks!

  • Watermelonia says:

I think that if you put a capo on fret two, but not transpose the song, it sounds really awesome! Only if you have a capo though.

  • ukumusic says:

Don’t you sometimes wish you knew what people thought about how your voice sounded when you sing? I sure wish I could hear someone give me some honest feedback. People say I’m a really good singer but I think they only say that because I’m standing there and they don’t want to say anything bad.

  • Abilizer says:

    It should be C,Em,Am and F .

  • Abilzer says:

    With one strum

  • Abilizer says:

    With one strum

  • thephantom368 says:

Hey ukumusic. You can try what I do. Whenever i go somewhere i take my ukulele. I go around stores playing it and singing random songs (usually to my fiance). While your out don’t think about the people who can hear you. Just play and sing. People will tell you the truth. If they tell you to stop, that means you need to work on something. If they say thank you, your doing something right. Lastly look for the learning experience. Don’t get down because of what they say. I mean last month I found out that im the laughing stock at the local outsmart. Hasn’t stopped me from doing what i love. To any who try this. Good luck.

  • thephantom368 says:

    Petsmart*

  • Sunshine says:

What happened to the layout?? One day it was normal, now it’s all scrunched up on one side of the page… I’ve checked the pages of other songs I play frequently -to see if it was something wrong with my browser- and they’re still normal, it’s just this one (that I know of)

  • gracie says:

Using -4 key is very easy if you are a beginner. :) The chord transitions are not very hard

  • uke girl says:

Lin-Manuel Miranda deserves some credit for writing Moana

Do not ask for strumming patterns. Sharing online how to literally play a song (i.e. strumming, rhythm and tempo) is not allowed by the MPA (Music Publishers Association) because of copyright issues.

Carefully listen to the song and "feel" the rhythm. Once you get the basics of strumming, it'll go real quick. Maybe the strumming guide can help you.
