Intro:
| Gm | Gm | Bb | C |
| Gm | Gm | C | Eb C |

Verse 1:
  Gm Gm
I grew up as your usual suburbanite,
       Bb C
a tiny town in Massachusetts, overwhelmingly white.
  Gm Gm
I went to church on Sundays in a suit and a tie,
Bb C
then spent my free time watching Family Guy.
  Gm Gm Bb
I started doing comedy when I was just a sheltered kid,
                  C
I wrote offensive xxxx, and I said it:
Gm Gm C
Father, please forgive me, for I did not realize what I did
            Eb C
or that I'd live to regret it.

Pre-Chorus:
Eb Bb Gm
Times are changing, and I'm getting old.
              Bb
Are you gonna hold me accountable?
   Gm Bb
My bed is empty and I'm getting cold.
Gm Bb -nc-
Isn't anybody gonna hold me accountable? Uh

Chorus:
          Gm Gm
I'm problematic -He's a problem-,
Gm C
when I was seventeen, on Halloween
                 Gm Gm
I dressed up as Aladdin -He's a problem-,
C -nc-
I did not darken my skin, but still, it feels weird in Solo: hindsight.

Solo:
| Gm | Gm | Bb | C |
| Gm | Gm | C | Eb C |

Verse 2:
          Gm Gm
I want to show you how I'm growing as a person, but first
         Bb C
I feel I must address the lyrics from the previous Verse.
           Gm Gm
I tried to hide behind my childhood, and that's not okay,
   Bb C
my actions are my own, I won't explain them away.
     Gm Gm Bb
I've done a lot of self-reflecting since I started singing this song,
              C
I was totally wrong when I said it:
Gm Gm C
Father, please forgive me, for I did not realize what I did
            Eb C
or that I'd live to regret it.

Pre-Chorus:
Eb Bb Gm
Times are changing and I'm getting old.
              Gm
Are you gonna hold me accountable?
   Eb Bb
My bed is empty and I'm getting cold.
Gm Gm -nc- -nc-
Isn't anybody gonna hold me accountable? Uh

Chorus:
          Gm Gm
I'm problematic -He's a problem-
Gm C
I just remembered that Aladdin costume's
               Gm Gm C Eb
in my mother's attic -He's a problem- I'm gonna go home and burn it
                   C -nc-
or not burn it. Is burning it bad? What should I do with it?

Bridge:
    Eb Bb
And I've been totally awful,
             F Gm Bb
my closet is chock-full of stuff that is vaguely xxxxty.
Eb Bb
All of it was perfectly lawful,
              F Gm Bb
just not very thoughtful at all and just really xxxxty.
    Eb Bb
And I've been totally awful,
             F Gm Bb
my closet is chock-full of stuff that is vaguely xxxxty.
Eb Bb
All of it was perfectly lawful,
              F -nc-
just not very thoughtful at all and just really ...

Outro:
                       Bb Gm
And I'm really xxxxing sorry,
Dm Dm
xxxxx, I'm trying to listen, xxxx, I’ve been complicit.
Bb Gm
Sorry,
Dm Dm
if I'm gonna catch up, first, I gotta fess up.
Bb Gm Dm Dm
Sorry,
Bb Gm Dm Dm
