8 ukulele chords used in "Leaning On A Lamp Post" by George Formby: Am, C, D, D7, E, F, G and G7

My father was a huge George Formby fan, he had every conceivable LP (back in the days of vinyl), and all the George Formby films on VHS – I am talking about the 70’s and 80’s! I loved watching the films with him and singing along with my dad in the car to the cassette tapes of George.
He would be so thrilled that, at the age of 47, I have started playing the Uke.
Thanks to all of those who have contributed to this excellent site and helped me learn to play.
Just learning to play Ukulele now I am 65 and retired. Very greatful for all put on the web.
thankyou
I believe the first line of the second verse is incorrect. You write,
“She doesn’t always get her way, she cannot always get her way.”
I think this should be,
“She doesn’t always get away, she cannot always get away.”
For Swampy & his friend; here is what i found on the net ;

Very helpful, thanks. Are we sure of the words though; I always thought that she couldn’t always get ‘away’ but she’d try.
Please correct the lyrics! Full of mistakes!

A different version to the one I am currently playing just as good and easier to play
Thanks Bernard Hill
Thank you so much for putting this out there. I’ve been playing guitar for a while now but never thought to pick up the ukulele. Bought one for my grandkids to play with but now I’m going to give it a go. Thanks again. Frank.
