The chords to this song are perfect, but I find it sounds better with a capo on the first fret.

  • JoePlays says:

    yes, definitely capo first fret!

  • HeartOfAWildChild says:

this is a really good song.

  • Angela Wu says:

  • Jorja Kyei says:

OMG sang this song for the whole school and got a standing ovation ! Chords work great !

  • emjoboo says:

    Practicing right now! :D

  • The_EdgeMaster says:

I love how easy it is! Once you memorize the four chords it’s a breeze!

  • Aaronjh says:

Perhaps, instead of just and A chord, you might want to try playing an A chord followed by an A7 chord, spending half the amount of time on each as the others.

  • Shibobo says:

Yep works so much better with capo on 1st fret

  • lizzy says:

Hi I’m new. What’s capo? Anyone care to explain?

  • anikka_genoa says:

A capo is a little metal thingy to put on the frets and hold all four of the strings down to possibly make the chords easier to play… but the chords are usually switched into a different key than the song if you do that…

  • Will says:

Hello lizzy, a capo is kind of like something that squeezes the neck of the instrument and presses down on the strings so if you were to put a capo on your ukulele on the 1st fret it would change the tuning to
G# C# F A#. It’s like the equivellant of barring frets with your finger.
Sorry if I spelled that wrong lol.

  • angie.bosmanq says:

Im confused too! I put a capo on the first fret but now the chords sound funny… What am I doing wrong’?

  • samuelcc says:

Hey Angie.bosmanq, make sure you leave the same opening for Em, G, and D as if you had no capo. Basically shift your fingers up a fret.

  • DoctorWho says:

Good job Jorja Kyei! This is such a great song! I hope I’m good at it!

  • gazpachoking says:

If you want to play along with the Foster the People version, transpose this +1. Jayme Dee plays a cover, transpose +3 to play along with that.

  • complete.utter.trash. says:

I love this song, though learning to play it just shows me how demented it truly is… but yeah, i find it sounds fine without a capo but I wouldn’t know anyway since I don’s have one.

  • Izzybelly says:

    I love this song!!!
It mashes up perfectly with “zombie” by the cranberries.

  • the.trashiest.uulele.boi says:

You can make a capo out of anything, just an fyi, im using a mechanical pencil held down with wire, tied it to one side of the pencil, then wrapped the wire around both the neck and the pencil in a way so the pencil is held down but doesnt touch the strings. My friend used an alan wrench and a rubber band. As long as its straight, and has something to hold it down works fine.

Do not ask for strumming patterns. Sharing online how to literally play a song (i.e. strumming patterns, rhythm and tempo) is not allowed by the MPA (Music Publishers Association) because of copyright issues.

Carefully listen to the song and "feel" the rhythm. Once you get the basics of strumming, it'll go real quick. Maybe the strumming guide can help you.
