Intro -x2-: A Gbm A

Verse:
A Gbm A Gbm A
I’ve learned to slam on the brake
A Gbm A Gbm A
Before I even turn the key
A Gbm A Gbm A
Before I make the mistake
A Gbm A Gbm A
Before I lead with the worst of me
A Gbm A Gbm A
Give them no reason to stare
A Gbm A Gbm A
No slipping out if you slip away
A Gbm A Gbm A
So I got nothing to share
A Gbm A Gbm A
No I’ve got nothing to say

Pre-Chorus:
Gbm D
Step out, step out of the sun
       A E
If you keep getting burned
Gbm D
Step out, step out of the sun
  A
Because you’ve learned
  E
Because you’ve learned

Chorus:
Gbm
On the outside
D
Always looking in
       A E
Will I ever be more than I’ve ever been?
          Gbm D
Cause I’m tap, tap, tapping on the glass
    A E
I’m waving through a window
Gbm D
I try to speak but nobody can hear
A E
So I wait around for an answer to appear
       Gbm D
Oh I’m watch, watch, watching people pass
    A E Gbm
I’m waving through a window
            E
Can anybody see?
                          A D
Is anybody waving back at me?

Interlude: A E

Verse:
A
We start with stars in our eyes
D E
We start believing that we belong
Dbm E
But every sun doesn’t rise
A D E
And nobody tells you where you went wrong

Pre-Chorus:
Gbm D
Step out, step out of the sun
       A E
If you keep getting burned
Gbm D
Step out, step out of the sun
  A
Because you’ve learned
  E
Because you’ve learned

Chorus:
Gbm
On the outside
D
Always looking in
       A E
Will I ever be more than I’ve ever been?
          Gbm D
Cause I’m tap, tap, tapping on the glass
    A E
I’m waving through a window
Gbm D
I try to speak but nobody can hear
A E
So I wait around for an answer to appear
       Gbm D
Oh I’m watch, watch, watching people pass
    A E Gbm
I’m waving through a window
            E
Can anybody see?

Is anybody waving?

Interlude:
            A E Gbm D
When you’ve fallen in a forest, and there’s nobody around
       A E Gbm D
do you ever really crash or even make a sound?

Bridge:
      Gbm D
Did I even make a sound?
      A E
Did I even make a sound?
            Gbm D
It’s like I never made a sound
       A
Will I ever make a sound?

Chorus:
Gm
On the outside
Eb
Always looking in
       Bb F
Will I ever be more than I’ve ever been?
          Gm Eb
Cause I’m tap, tap, tapping on the glass
    Bb F
I’m waving through a window
Gm Eb
I try to speak but nobody can hear
Bb F
So I wait around for an answer to appear
       Gm Eb
Oh I’m watch, watch, watching people pass
    Bb F Gm
I’m waving through a window
            F
Can anybody see?
                          Bb
Is anybody waving back at me?
   Eb F Gm F
Is anybody waving waving waving?
Eb Bb
Whoa whoa

instead of using a and gbm, Use c, csus4 and csus2. It sounds amazing! So do

    c csus4 csus2
ive learnt to slam on the brake.

the chords are easier than e so google them

  2. if anyone wants (in my opinion) a better way to play this i recommend checking out liana flores on youtube because she has done this musical mashup and her way of playing waving through a window really sounds like the original! she has a chord chart for it online as well

  3. i found that if you change the A to E in the intro, it matches the 3 chords played in the intro of the song :)

  4. Aw I love that they remember the theatre kids on Ukutabs<3

  5. Ramster242

    +3

  6. Wolf Ukulele

It sounds better if you put a capo on 2 while keeping the transpose on 0. :)

  7. On +3, if you take the chords from +5 (Bm, G, D, A) for the key change its way easier.

  8. Bluesalix

Can anyone recommend a good strumming patternt?

  9. Strum pattern????????

    • what i do for the verses is fingerpicking all strings at once (i dont know the technical term sorry!!). Like, say you pick the A string with your ring finger, E with your middle finger, and etc.. for all 4 strings. then do that simultaneously while your fretting hand is doing the chords. it mimics the cool piano staccato effect in the actual song! for the chorus just do a standard strumming pattern.

Carefully listen to the song and try to really "feel" the rhythm. Once you get the basics of strumming, I can assure you it'll go real quick. Maybe the strumming guide can help you on your way.
