Intro: G Gmaj7 Em Am D D7

Verse 1:
G Gmaj7
Hold me close and hold me fast
                     Em
The magic spells you cast
                  Am D
This is La Vie en ros-e

                        D7
When you kiss me heaven sighs
                      D
And though I close my eyes
                G D
I see La Vie en ros-e

Verse 2:
G Gmaj7
When you press me to your heart
                Em
I'm in a world apart
                    Am
a world where roses bloom

Bridge:
Am G
And when you speak angels sing from above
Am D D7
Everyday words seem to turn into love songs

Verse 3:
G Gmaj7
Give your heart and soul to me
                     C
And life will always be
   Am D G

If you add the French verse at the start, it sounds really nice.

Quand (con) il (eel) me(meh) prend (prand) dans (dan) ses (say) bras (brah)
Il (eel) me (meh) parle (par-lay) tout (tou) bas (ba) Je (juh) vois (voo) la vie en rose

Same chords for the first English verse

thats not how you pronounce it. It’s pronounced more like – cond el meh pron don se bra el muh parler two bar je vwas luh vee on roser

Again this is incorrect. If you don’t speak French do not try to correct. When you put an er on the end of something it’s pronounced ay. And some things that the person got correct are wrong on your part. Like how the first person says ses=say which is correct and you said ses=se. Edith Piaf would be disappointed (original writer of this song)

I’m in AP French (6 years of education) about to pursue my minor and this pronunciation is butchered and incorrect. Look at word reference and duolingo before you hit copy and paste on something you don’t understand. Please and thank you.

Well that’s not how you pronounce either. More like…

“kond eal meh prawnd dawn say brah”
Quand il me prende dans ses bras

“eal meh pawrl on tou baw”
Il me parle en tout bas

“juh vwa la vee on rowze-eh”
Je vois la vie en rose

jesus this entire comment section is just correcting the french pronounciation, so i guess i just have to listen to the audio itself. :/

Lol good point. It doesn’t matter whether or not your taking AP french or if you’re actually french or if you don’t even know the language at all. Just listen to the lyrics and sing what you hear :)

this version of the song is actually by Louis Armstrong. Edith Piaf’s has different lyrics and her’s are in French.

Actually Edith Piaf wrote the English version of the lyrics too, Louis Armstrong did the most famous English cover.

I love the posted chords! One thing I like to do though is replace the Em with an Em7 – I feel like it adds a little more depth/authenticity to the progression (plus it’s easier in terms of placement!)
