Intro: Dbm A E Abm

Verse 1:
Dbm
Oh the wind whistles down
A
The cold dark street tonight
          E Abm
And the people they were dancing to the music vibe
          Dbm
And the boys chase the girls with the curls in their hair
A
While the shy tormented youth sit way over there
          E
And the songs they get louder
                       Abm
Each one better than before

Chorus - 2x -:
                        Dbm
And you're singing the songs thinking this is the life
                         A
And you wake up in the morning and you're head feels twice the size
                   E
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
                         Abm
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

Interlude: Dbm A E Abm

Verse 2 - same chords as Verse 1 -
So you're heading down the road in your taxi for four
And you're waiting outside Jimmy's front door
But nobody's in and nobody's home 'til four
So you're sitting there with nothing to do
Talking about Robert Riger and his motley crew
And where you're gonna go and where you're gonna sleep tonight

Chorus - 2x -:
                        Dbm
And you're singing the songs thinking this is the life
                         A
And you wake up in the morning and you're head feels twice the size
                   E
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
                         Abm
Where you gonna sleep tonight? Where you gonna sleep tonight?

Interlude - 2x -: Dbm A E Abm

Chorus - 4x, first time quiet -:
                        Dbm
And you're singing the songs thinking this is the life
                         A
And you wake up in the morning and you're head feels twice the size
                   E
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
                         Abm
Where you gonna sleep tonight? Where you gonna sleep tonight?

  1. The best strumming pattern is d dud dud duudu

I love this song. Btw giving an accent on every other strum makes it sound amazing.

  3. i like +1 (Dm Bb F Am) the most, its easy and sounds close to the original. i prefer to strum it DDUUDU, maybe with slight variations and close to the bridge to get a sharper sound.

  4. How do i know how to strumm ? ^-^

    • you should do what you think is right. id say the basic strumming pattern is ddu-udu, but you should sometimes add single down strums to ‘spice it up’ and make it original haha

-2 is super easy! Love this song :)

  6. you can also play Am, F, C and G, its much easier. Good song!

  7. -4 and capo on fourth fret sounds awesome. Andmuch easier for begginers like me.
Thank you so much for this song!
