Intro: G C D C G In my mind C In a future five years from now D I'm 120 pounds C And I never get hungover G C Because I will be the picture of discipline D Never minding what state I'm in C And be someone I admire D C And it's funny how I imagined that I would be that person now D But it does not seem to have happened C D Maybe I've just forgotten how, to see C G That I'm not exactly the person that I thought I'd be G And in my mind C In the faraway here and now D I've become in control somehow C And I never lose my wallet G C Because I will be the picture of discipline D Never xxxxxxx up anything C And I'll be a good defensive driver D C And it's funny how I imagined that I would be that person now D But it does not seem to have happened C D Maybe I've just forgotten how, to see C G That I'll never be the person that I thought I'd be G And in my mind C When I'm old, I am beautiful D Planting tulips and vegetables C Which I will mindfully watch over -- G Not like me, now C I'm so busy with everything D That I don't look at anything C But I'm sure I'll look when I am older D C And it's funny how I imagine that I could be that person now D C But that's not what I want, if that's what I wanted then I'd be giving up somehow D C G How strange to see ---- that I don't want to be the person that I want to be G And in my mind C I imagine so many things D Things that aren't really happening C And when they put me in the ground, G C I'll start pounding the lid, Saying "I haven't finished yet – D I still have a tattoo to get C That says 'I'm living in the moment'." D C And it's funny how I imagined that I could win this winless fight D C But maybe it isn't all that funny that I've been fighting all my life D C But maybe I have to think it's funny if I wanna live before I die D C And maybe it's funniest of all to think I'll die before I actually see C G That I am exactly the person that I want to be This arrangement is its contributor’s own interpretation, shared for private study, education and non-commercial use. 3 ukulele chords used in "In My Mind" by Amanda Palmer: C, D and G

Here are some strumming patterns that work for me:
D- DUD
Or
D DUD D D D
I love this song :)))) It’s beautiful, much like the entire Life is Strange soundtrack. I wish I could thank them for all of the life-changing music they introduced me too, as well as the wonderful impact LiS had on my life.
Also, Amanda Palmer, you’re wonderful and so is your song.
Am I the only one who was brought here by Life is Strange? Lol x
I think it sounds nice to add G, C, D between the verse an chorus
Oh my goodness I didn’t think this would be here!! I love Life is Strange a lot it changed my life and I love this song so much. Thanks for putting this one up!! 🙂
Here for LiS… :3
The original strumming pattern is:
D – UDU
The tricky part is the rhythm of it. It took me 2 days to get it right, and on the 3d day I could play it like in the original song. I watched videos of Amanda Palmer’s perfomances of the song, tried to copy the rhythm with muted strings, played along with the song (on the 1st day it was a cacophony, but the next day my hand could sometimes get the rhythm right, to my delight). So, the key is to listen and imitate (Amanda plays slower on youtube videos, so I recommend using them).
Every failure is just a prelude to success.
Wish you luck and love :3
I heard this song because of Life is Strange but I already loved Amanda Palmer and when I really sat down and listened to it with the lyrics open it kind of made me cry it’s such a lovely song.
I love Amanda Palmer, and I’m so glad her songs are on here. This is one of my favorites, and I can’t wait to play it.
Hey…does anybody know the strumming pattern to this song? With my usual one it doesn’t sound that good…please help xx
I agree with Mortimara, it is a bit easier for some people to sing it if it’s +2.
Playing the E chord might be a bit tricky for some people (especially beginners, like me :3) though, so you could also just pop a capo onto the second fret of the ukulele instead so you don’t have to play that E chord.
Excuse me if it’s a little obvious, just thought I’d share 🙂
Also, it’s really easy to play the song in +5 too 😀
If you’re a higher pitch, +2 works really well!
This is an amazing translation of an awesome song from LiS :D!
