4 ukulele chords used in "I Built A Friend" by Alec Benjamin: A, D, E and Gbm

This song hits different when u realize it’s about s*icide
The first ever time I heard this song was on AGT when Merrick Hanna was dancing to the song. It kept on coming back to me and when I found out who wrote the song and I saw this I was super excited. Thank you so much for putting this song on UkuTabs because I LOVE UkuTabs a LOT. You made my day today. 🙂
i swear the first time i heard this song i cried
+3 for Am C F G
For those curious on the strum patter it’s more of a plucking. It’s the same as Hey There Delilah. Pluck the C string once then E and A at the same time once and repeat. But for the very last A of the song do a single down strum. Hope this helps!
AHHHH THIS SONG IS MY FAVORITEST SONG IN THE WHOLE WIDE UNIVERSE AND IM SO HAPPY THAT I CAN FINALLY PLAY IT AND AM JUST THE BIGGEST HAPPY THE END
if E is a bit hard, i used E7 (wasn’t spot on but it was easier to reach)
whats the strum pattern?
This song made me cryyy
-2 is very simple to play
verses: G Em C G D x2
chorus: Em G C G D
for example:
G Em
i built a friend three pieces of plastic and a pen
C G
i made him on a table in the den gave him my old cell phone for a head
D
for a head
G Em
and we spent holidays at my house and we left
C G
presents in the stockings and we bought bolts and things and strings and a new watch
D
thats what he got
Em G
and we had so much fun together we knew we’d be friends forever
C G D
and we had so much fun together we had so much fun
then repeat with the other lyrics, idk sounds better to me but its up to you
I found that the best way to play this, for a simple sound, is:
Fingering A, pluck the C string twice, then double pluck G and A (Only once)
Then change to Dsus2 with the same pattern, only do this once
Return to A and use the pattern once
Then finally, change to Esus4 with the same pattern once
Repeat all of those again, throughout the song
+3
is it bad that towards the end i started crying about the meaning of the song?
Anyone else use am f c and g when they play or is that just me?
The strumming pattern is: Pluck 1st 3rd and 4th string at the same time then the 2nd string after those three.
**Start slow if its your first time, it takes time to learn.**
if you have smol fingers and cannot play E (like me) play Asus4 instead. it’s not the same, but it’s easier ?
does anyone know the strum pattern?
