5 ukulele chords used in "Island In The Sun" by Weezer: Am, C, D, Em and G

(Em) go down once
(Am) up then down
(D) down (stop) down
(G) up down
I like the strum pattern of ddu-dd-ddu-dd I think is sound most like the actual song, but don’t @Say what? me =^._.^=
Guitar player here just started playing the ukulele like 2 days ago haha. Sounds pretty good but like the previous poster said Am doesnt sound quite right. not sure what the chord is called but if you play the Am and C at the same time it sounds about right to me. Gives it a full sound with the high note you here in the original melody. To clarify, G string 2nd fret and the A 3rd string
The Am probably sounds wrong because there’s another variation of Am to play that sounds perfect with the song. A string, 3rd fret. E string, 5th fret. C string, 4th fret. Hope that fixes it for you guys!
I do d dud du u dudu for strumming
2 kwel 4skwel
i like 5+ and using the high Am (3002) and high Dm (5122), but for ease, high D (5222) still sounds good. i don’t know much about music theory but this sounds right in my skullsounds. for strumming, i do (Am)Dx- (Dm)Dx- (G)Dx- (C)U UDU
This song is so fun to play!
the second chord should be an Am7 🙂
Easy song to play. I suggest putting the capo on the 2nd fret. The Am sounds fine that way.
However, if you want to play without a capo, you could use C in the intro but I would still stick with Am in the verses. Sounds better in the transition. Hope it helps!
Thank you. Hannah.
here’s what i use for the strumming pattern:
into+chorus+verse
ddu-dd-udu-du
em am d g
bridge
dduud-dduud
d g
dduud-dduud-ddud
c am d
i hope this helps yall!! (this took me like two hours to decipher what i was strumming 😭)
I think this should be green I learned it in like 2 minutes and I can’t even play the b chord
the strum pattern i find best is ddud-ddud (i was listening to the song while figuring this out so its more accurate)
and for the intro, use c instead of Am, it sounds better
Hip hip
I find that for the intro this strumming pattern works best (for me atleast):
Em: dx
Am: dx
D: dx
G: dd
Hope this helps! 🙂
I remembered this song when I found that Gm -> C sounded really like the first two chords.
Then I came here to find the rest but the key here sounded way off to me even with all the comments trying to better it with capos and what not…
So I transposed to key G and I found it sounded way more accurate (although still might be a bit off with the last two chords)
Try it out and decide for yourself, if anything sounds better to you please reply so I’ll know 🙂
*** LONG STORY SHORT try out:
Gm – C – F – A#(Bm)
I do dx ddx dx d
Em Am D G
DD UDU DDU DUU
^i like this pattern
This is so fun thank you!!!!
