  1. ChristineLoretta

I play it with Dm, C, and F and it sounds great

  2. guys try EM, D and G it sounds much better

  3. Good it’s simple but good to play

  4. samari.panda

on -1 i changed G to F easier to play for me since im still a beginner and it sounds good to me :)

  5. Just bought a capo, quite different (in a good way) but so expensive!!

  6. avery_horses_JD

OMG finally this is my fav song and now playing it on the uk is the best thing now i can show all my friends

  7. amazing song, but works better if you change the Bdm for Am and the Ab for G and the Db for a C!sounds good all the same. thanks so much!

  8. Ukulelefish

Great song, I find it works best with Am G C!! :D

  9. abigaileno

I’ve found that it’s much easier to play Am G C

  10. this sounds nice with candles by daughter, same chords and chord transition times :)

  11. It actually isn’t Ab, it’s supposed to be Gb :)

  12. i love this song! i play Am, G, C with capo 1. still sounds like the real thing

  13. MassPrimeSyndicate

I found a version that sound better. I am an advanced player, but the easier way to play (Well, the course) is Am, F, and C. Then the very last line on the verse play Am, G, and C. There is a picking pattern for the chorus. You pluck the first three strings then play the 4th string with your thumb after the lyrics.

  14. good song but I find it easier to play if you change it to -6

    • Amazing Grace

Amaze!!!! I love it so much better possibly because I sing in a lower tone and -6 is east for people who sing lower

  15. Person of aus

But an amazing song. Thank you very much. Maybe also add ‘Que Sera’ by Justice Crew.

  16. Person of aus

I got an easier version. Change ’em’ to ‘am’ and ‘d’ to ‘c’ it is so much easier.

  17. foofoo40489

    awesome song. ^0^

  18. The verse that starts

I just gotta, I just gotta know

    is actually

I just wanna, I just wanna know

    • I’m pretty sure it’s gotta not wanna I don’t know just saying xx

    • wait is it
I just wanna I just wanna know
if your gonna if your gonna stay
It totally swapped those around. make no sense to me so i swapped back around

    • The entire bridge:

I just wanna, I just wanna know
If you’re gonna, if you’re gonna stay
I just gotta know, I just gotta know
I can’t have it, I can’t have it any other way

    • The first time it’s ‘wanna’, then after ‘if you’re gonna, if you’re gonna stay’ it’s ‘gotta’. I think so, anyway.

    • Asriel Dreemurr

      It’s both actually, mates:

I just wanna, I just wanna know
If you’re gonna, if you’re gonna stay
I just gotta, I just gotta know
I can’t have it, I can’t have it any other way

Dunno if that’s what you meant and I’m just restating it, though.

      -Azzy

  19. Sounds quite nice (and is much easier to play) if you move all the notes up a step (not sure if that’s the right terminology). So Bdm becomes Am, Ad becomes G and Dd becomes C.

  20. Finally!
    Thaaaaaaaank you so much! xxx

    • im a smelly bum i love this song

    • Mr. Criticism

Why does everyone keep saying,” Play Am, G than C.” Enough of this “it’s easier junk.” Dm, C, F with a capo on the first fret. Play it right.

      • Not everyone has a capo. If they are playing it the easy way and they so that’s wrong but without a capo that’s really the only way.

      • well jeez that was aggressive. it sounds fine. let folks live, honestly.

      • It doesn’t sound right tho, even with the capo

      • geez… for beginners (ahem me) it may be easier to play Am, G, then C!!!!

      • yeah, Am/C/G sounds more correct

      • racheltheknittedsweater

I don’t yet have a capo, and I’m not experienced enough to play those chords just like many others, don’t put down people that don’t have as much experience.

      • Sarah plays ukulele not tragedies

Jeez. You must be fun at parties.

        Lmao, “Mr. Criticism.”

      • Guuurl sit yo ass down. Dm, C, F with a capo on the first fret sounds nothing like the song

      • your really supposed to tune your uke all the way down to dgbe that’s the tuning Vance joy uses, but it only works on Tenor size ukulele’s. then you play the chords Dm c F

      • Hey, just let ppl do wat ever,(RUUDDEEE)

      • I actually Mr. Criticism has a point, the range in this key is much more comfortable for a girl’s voice (which I am one), and I for one am planning to play this at my school talent show, so thank you, Mr. Criticism! :)

      • what’s so wrong about an easier way, I mean it’s sounds pretty much the same

      • MinecraftGirl18

        I’m just lazy. lol

      • pheonixfeather3

2 points, 1. Am/G/C is easier to sing along to, and 2. Dm/C/F with capo on 1st simply doesn’t sound good.

      • What about A, Bm and D? I think that sounds good…and honestly, why hate? Do u have nothing better to do with ur life??

      • Josh Dun's wife

If it helps, just use -1. It does all of the recalculations for you.

      • man that was harsh! i think those chords sound great, and im not a beginner. that key just matches my vocal range. chill

      • I find it finely easy and simple enough thank you very much.

      • Tbh, I think Dm C F sounds good without a capo

      • geez

      • For beginners like me, Am/G/C is a lot easier and sounds gr8! Ur being rly unfair! What’s ur problem! ?

      • I don’t have a capo, and even if I did it is easy and sounds really good with Am, G, C. But that’s my opinion. : 3

      • but, dude let people live!!

      • You know you could say things in a nicer way and more people would actually listen to your point without you ruining everyone’s day?
This is supposed to be a place for EVERYONE who plays the ukulele, not just people with a lot of experience, so, if I don’t own a capo and am not able to play your version, I don’t have to get annoyed with you. So stop being mean, no hate!

      • Btw, Vance joy doesn’t play Dm C F, he plays Am G C on a baritone ukulele which is tuned D G B E. On the baritone, Am G C uses the chord shapes for Dm C F on any other kind of ukulele. Am G C is the correct way to play the song

      • I get where you’re coming from, but not everybody can play barred notes too well. I am one of them. A lot of people are beginners for ukulele and it might take some time to get used to barred notes. I’ve been playing ukulele for about five months now and I still can’t play them very well. It’s called an “alternative” for a reason. It’s not the original. I understand that you seem to like things being the “correct” way, but just don’t be a douche about it and be respectful to the beginners, okay?

      • Lol why is it such a big deal mr criticism? Let people play it how they want. You’ve started an internet comment war over how you think people should play it. Why do you care? Let people just play music!

      • I understand that you want to play it a certain way, and that is perfectly fine. But why exactly is it that you are so concerned about how everybody else plays it? It is quite possible that you will never in your life hear any of these lovely ukulele players play this song as they got it from this website, so it really won’t affect you.

      • I’m sorry Mr. Criticism but not everyone lives near a store where they can buy a capo and if people want to play it the easy way let them if you don’t like it that way then play it your way because some people can’t

      • duuuuuude. Not everyone is a “Expert” at ukulele. Heres a prescription for Chill Pills. Please take twice a day after a meal. >.<

      • Jesus man don’t get your titties in a twist…

      • I have to play it am/g/c because I simply don’t know how to play the other cords well without breaking my finger off

      • I love how their name is “Mr. Criticism” and no one gets the joke

      • oh u know what!!! those are the chords on baritone -1. that makes sense but pls stop being so aggresive

      • I just use +4 its the easiest one for me at lease. Dm, C, and F.

      • Looks like someone’s getting criticized for their criticism ?(mr.criticism)

      • K guys it doesn’t matter some of us are more experienced and some of us are just beginning, so it doesnt matter how we play it.

      • Hi everyone I am freaindly and new ?I hope you all love ukulele as much as I do .

      • Gosh, that’s kind of aggressive, especially to beginners. (me).

      • sry, i love uke. im talking to mr criticism.
        lol, sry

      • Yeah hey we get it

Dm C and F sound strange even with a capo but Am G C sounds nice with a capo. plus you call the first part easy junk boy you changed one chord that literally and F with one more finger

      • Mr. Criticism, my man, you are right. If these people want to do that, whatever, I don´t care. But I feel like the only way to get better is to challenge yourself: learn new chords, strumming patterns, special effects.

      • jeeze why can’t you guys just get a tenor ukelele, tune it to dGBE and play Dm, C, F instead of the easy less impressive Am, G, C.
Joking aside I actually did that just to play this song correctly

      • That doesn’t sound right

      • -1 says so plus not everyone has a capo get it right mate

      • Sometimes people can’t play them, sometimes it’s just easier to do it that way. I play it Am, G, then C with my capo on the first fret because it is easier and I like it. It’s a preference thing.

      • Ummm sorry but that’s not right. Number one, try being nice to people. Number two, it IS Am G C…

      • People say to play Am, G, and C because this is the first song people try and learn to strum and sing with

      • Its 3 chords on a ukulele website… chill

      • Some people r just beginning

      • I thought I’d add to this long string of replies to make it longer, sooooo. I agree, just let us play am/g/c. But I guess your not actually stopping us! I can’t blame you for criticizing, because you name is Mr.Criticizim

      • I think a lot of people will use Am, G, C because a) they might be easier chords to get their fingers around so they can therefore play it at the speed they’d like to, b) some people may not own a capo (I still don’t, and that’s fine) and c) it might be an easier pitch to sing the song at.
Thank you for your opinion, though!

      • mr critisism stop

please dont say things like that its rude and puts other less exerienced uke players down

      • try it on teh second fret

        hgtestrdyijlkhbgfbdsfyuio[p#iugtrqadguio'[p;igfd

    • plucking records

      I love this song
