4 ukulele chords used in "You Are My Sunshine" by The Civil Wars: Am, C, Dm and F

You were my sunshine, my only sunshine,
you made me happy when skies were gray,
you’ll never know dear, how much I loved you
You just took all my sunshine away.
Call me whatever, but sometimes I honestly don’t like using strum patterns. If you just strum down once on the note, it gives it a nice slow quality to the song. Try it, idk
If you were looking for a major sound to the song just switch the Am and the C chords. This gives it a major sound if that’s what you were looking for because A is C’s relative minor.
first song i’m learning on my new uke 🙂
why is this such a minor sounding song?
Like a slot machine, I just keep hitting the transposer until I get chords I know so try +7 if you need EZ.
the way i learned was C for two measures (starting at sunshine), F for one measure, C for two, F for one, then a single strum of C, G, C
i’ll try to writr it out
C
you are my sunshine
my only sunshine
F
you make me happy
C
when skies are grey
F
you’ll never know dear
C
how much i love you
C
Please don’t take
G C
My sunshine away
it sounds better if you just boot the Am
I love this song!
this is a good song
I was looking at another one that’s alot better it’s like this:
Cmaj C7
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
F Cmaj C7
You make me happy, when skies are grey
G Cmaj
You’ll never know dear, how much i love you.
Cmaj G Cmaj
Please don’t take my sunshine away.
And repeat. I liked it alot.
I absolutely love this song! it’s so haunting! 😀
I like going from a C to a C7 instead of an am to C
me too!
Can somebody PLEASE help me with the strumming pattern? Dumb beginner here..
This is working for me.
What’s the strumming pattern ??? ?
The strumming pattern I use is D-U-X
(down, up, chuck/mute)
If you don’t know how chuck/mute, you can also just use D-U
Also replace all the Am with C and it sounds a lot better 🙂
What’s the strumming pattern?????¿?¿???¿¿
I googled for notation and tablature and up comes chords. I like to be able to see the tune on sheet music as well as the tab.
