Here’s a little easy way to play this song.

My strumming pattern is DDU UDU DDU UDU

If you’re a beginner, substitute:

E – C
B – G
Dbm – Am
A – F

if you want to play in the original E, B, Dbm, and A:

Play E as:
oooo <-4th fret
xxxx
xxxx
xxxo

and Dbm as:
oooo <-4th fret
xxxx
oxxx

Alecia

This is amazing advice, my cramping hand thanks you

E A

That is the -4 transpose but good tip. The strumming pattern you gave is the correct one.

serendipitied

I was just going to comment this- discovered it by accident

Echo

You are amazing, thank you so much for this

Anonymous pancake

Thank you so much! I only know a little more than half the original cords and can only do half the cords I know(been a while since I played)

useless lesbian

Thank you! i have really tiny hands so it was hard for me to play the other chords, but this is so much easier.

giraffe08

DDDUDU sounds good as well

ukulelelover25

kk thx so much

digbickliam

yes periodt.

Patata (actually potato in Spanish)

Love this jam.

Taylor swiftly Billie eyelashed away

I thought “Papa” is potato in Spanish 🧐

Ella

It is!!

A* spanish student

no it is actually patata not papa – papa is like dad
then you have patatas fritas which is chips

Cece

both papa and patata are correct. papa is potato. and papá is father. they sound very similar but papa sounds like pop-uh while papá sounds more like like pop-AH

Sophie Foster

Papa is potato in Spanish, as is Patata. It depends on what region/type of Spanish you speak. For example, if you’re Mexican, Orange would be pronounced in Spanish as Anaranjado, as opposed to Puerto Rican (like me), or Cuban (basically any Caribbean island nationality,) it would be Naranja. It depends on what nationality of origin you’re using. So both are technically correct. Hope this helped :).

Jesús

no one says anaranjado here in Mexico dude, we say naranja too

Sophie R

And kartoffel or erdapfel ( not sure about spelling ) is potato in german. My german cousins say so.

That One Dude That Did A Thing

Heck yeah. And yes, kartoffel is potato in German.

JustAnotherSophie

I agree with Cece. They’re both correct. :p

potato

this is really fun

I panicked but it wasnt at a disco

I’m literally just transposing to -4 and doing a down strum for every downbeat, emphasizing every other strum, if that makes sense. Its super easy

EGG

After learning the strumming pattern for Riptide by Vance Joy (or just learning that song in general) it’s actually quite easy to learn this song. I use the chords C, G, Am, F, in that order. I’m not entirely sure if it’s DDU UDU twice for each chord (meaning your playing each chord in that sequence twice) but it sounds correct.

This has been a really fun and enjoyable experience learning this song. Thank you!

Sam

I agree with those chords and I use the same strumming pattern.

Actually A Biscuit

Hey I love this song, and I’m probs gonna play it for my gf if I can work up the confidence, but I’m kinda confused on how to get the ending to sound like the actual song? Like does it start off slow with one strum for each chord then build up or does it start quiet and slowly get louder? Anyway if any of u guys have advice please help thx

aurora borealis

I recommend playing in +4 for easier chords!

avaaaa

I play the -4 transpose, but i use the strumming pattern DU-UDU

hey!

a lot of people are saying the strumming pattern is DDU UDU, but after I listened closely I thought it was D DUDUDU, just one extra D in the middle. Up to y’all though! Happy strumming! and god bless america!
