4 ukulele chords used in "Hey, Soul Sister" by Train: A, B, Dbm and E

STRUMMING PATTERN. I’m a trained musician and the strumming pattern is in 16th notes with a slight swing. 1 e & a 2 e & a 3 e & a 4 e & a
D D U D U D U D D U D U D U
It’s the same thing throughout the whole song.
Also, please learn this in the original (unless you cannot sing in that high of a range) because it will make you a much better musician to play the harder E, B, and Dbm chords. Don’t give up! Your fingers and hands will learn the muscle memory and you will never have to learn it again, those chords will be under your fingertips forever. Anyone else in this comment section that gives a different opinion is not giving information according to the original studio recording and should be disregarded if you want to play this song like the true original.
Here’s a little easy way to play this song.
My strumming pattern is DDU UDU DDU UDU
If you’re a beginner, substitute:
E – C
B – G
Dbm – Am
A – F
if you want to play in the original E, B, Dbm, and A:
Play E as:
oooo <-4th fret
xxxx
xxxx
xxxo
and Dbm as:
oooo <-4th fret
xxxx
oxxx
My fingers were too short to play in the original key.
a lot of people are saying the strumming pattern is DDU UDU, but after I listened closely I thought it was D DUDUDU, just one extra D in the middle. Up to y’all though! Happy strumming! and god bless america!
yes periodt.
I’m literally just transposing to -4 and doing a down strum for every downbeat, emphasizing every other strum, if that makes sense. Its super easy
this is really fun
Love this jam.
Hey I love this song, and I’m probs gonna play it for my gf if I can work up the confidence, but I’m kinda confused on how to get the ending to sound like the actual song? Like does it start off slow with one strum for each chord then build up or does it start quiet and slowly get louder? Anyway if any of u guys have advice please help thx
I simply could not depart your site prior to telling that I really loved it! I’m gonna be back regularly to check on new tabs. Thank you!
without a capo, -4 is really easy to play plus sing with if you’re a girl!
That thing you are calling Dbm doesn’t exist in the song’s key of E. It’s a C#m. In keys with sharp pitches (D major has F#) all the alterations from natural pitch are upward (sharpened). In keys with flat pitches (F has Bb) all the alterations are downward (flattened). This helps the ear keep track of how far from the home note any pitch is. One can count then by scale steps instead of half steps.
Try not to transpose because this is a great song to improve your skills.
I do use a variation of Dbm and E because my fingers feel uncomfortable with the regular positions 🙂
Hi
does anyone have tips on how to play a Dbm Chord? I want to play the origional chords but I’m struggling with that one.
If you didn’t see this at the top…………
Transpose the chords -4
Put a capo on fret 4 to stay in the same key
Hey-ay-AY-ay-ay
woof that was HARD as a beginner but SO worth it to see my fingers be able to stretch more and hear the chords sound more right by the end of the song
to hard
I do C Em F and G
