6 ukulele chords used in "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman: C, Cmaj7, D, Em, Em7 and G

please put the chords throughout the entire song, not just say it repeats, thats not helpful for learning
I think the tab sounds nice if you play
A
E
C 1-2-1-4-4—9-9-8-8
G
And then the second time around play
A
E
C 1-2-1-4-4—9-11-9-8-9-8
G
If that makes sense
Tranpose is amazing! Perfect for singing, but I despise the fact it says same as the first verse like how the heck am I suppose to remember it?!?!
xA|–2-3-2—5-5–|–10-10—9-9—|–2-3-2—5-5–|10-12-10-9-10-9|
xE|—————-|—————-|—————-|—————-|
xC|—————-|—————-|—————-|—————-|
xG|—————-|—————-|—————-|—————-|
Try that for the finger picking. I’m not sure if I’ve written it right, I’ve never written tabs before.
Verse F C Am G
chorus G F F C
Am F
Am G
F am G (I ayyy had a feeling that I belong) etc
F Am….
Hi, sorry but I think these chords are not correct.
+5
Change Em7 for just Em and it sounds better 🙂 to me anyway
For the main rift, i found an easier and simple way of getting the same sound for the beginning of the song. It’s all of the top string (g)
The number just means the fret.
2-3-2-5-5-5–10-10-9-9 X2 (1)
2-3-2-5-5-5-10-12-10-9 (2) repeat after every second first rift
It should go (1) (1) (2) Repeat until you want to continue with the actual cords
The chords seem right. However the picking part doesn’t sound right to me.
I don’t want to sound ungrateful though. I really appreciate the person who put this up 🙂
for the picking pattern, i came up with
G ———————-0-
C 0–0–0–0–0———-
E 0–1–0–3–3—8–7-
A ——————-0—-
(hope i formatted that right lol)
then for the second part of that you do
G——————————–0
C 0–0–0–0–0———-
E 0–1–0–3–3—8–10–8–7
A ——————–0—0–0—-
then the chords would be
Am F
you got a fast car
C G
i want a ticket to anywhere
Am F
maybe we can make a deal
C G
maybe together we can get somewhere
Am F
anyplace is better
C G
starting from zero, got nothing to lose
Am F
maybe we can make something
C G
me myself i’ve got nothing to prove
(and fingerpicking, then play that for the rest of the verses)
chorus:
. Am
I remember when we were driving
F
driving in your car
C G
speed so fast it felt like i was drunk with the
Am F
city lights spread out before us and your
C G
arm felt nice wrapped around my shoulder and
Am C G
I____ I, had a feeling that I belonged
Am C G F G
I____ I, had a feeling I could be someone, be someone
Hope that’s helpful!!! that’s how I ended up figuring out then wanted to share on here, let me know if it helped by commenting (i worked really hard on this :.))
-2 is actually fairly decent and perf for singing – chords aren’t too bad either
+5 and just play F C Am and G
I play it like this:
A>3-3-3-3-3-3-2-2
E>0-1-0-3-3-0-3-3
C>0-0-0-0-0-0-2-2
G>0-0-0-0-0-2-0-0
All the way through and it seems to work 🙂
-2
use a capo on the second fret sounds much nicer
strum pattern is dud (cmaj7) u,updu (g) dud (em7) u,updu (d) through the whole song i think
It just needs the note ‘capo on fret 2’. Then it’ll sound as recorded but an octave higher.
its actually
D – A – F#7 – E
2220 – 2100 – 2120 – 4442
I play it this way
—0——0——2–0—–0—–
-2—2-0—–2———0——– Repeat
-2—2-1—–1———4——–
-2—2-2—–2———1—–1–
Sorry for the tempo, first time I write
