I play the riff twice and on the second time, I pluck C with my finger on the 4th fret then go into the song because that sounds more true to the original song.

hi all, the strumming pattern i use is:
    D-DU-UDU

  3. Anthony Kiedis

I have another version of the riff idk if it helps but here:

    xA——————————–
    xE——–3-3-5-3-1—————
    xC–2-2-2———–2-2-2–0-0-0–
    xG——————————–

  4. What strumming pattern do you use for this?

The ads and comments are blocking the whole song and they weren’t doing that yesterday. Also there isn’t an X on the ad or a hide comments button. I love this site so much it’s amazing and I’ve learned so much but please fix this.

  6. An easier way to play the riff (same notes but more open strings)

    A ————0–0–2–0————————
    E –0–0–0——————0–0–0————
    C ————————————–2–2–2–
    G ————————-0———————-

    • with OP’s version you can hammer the C string when you repeat the riff when switching from C2 to C4, and that just sounds nicer IMO

What does the s in front of the string letters of the tab mean?

    • Hello! Those are simply to block the string letters to be recognized as chords in the song. I’ve written a script which automatically detects the chords in the song and places the diagrams at the top. If I wouldn’t put an “x” (or s) in front of them it would also display their (GCEA) chord diagrams.

I’ve noticed that the chords weren’t in place at all! I have no improved it!

Carefully listen to the song and try to really "feel" the rhythm. Once you get the basics of strumming, I can assure you it'll go real quick. Maybe the strumming guide can help you on your way.
