Nope, Dalton, Barney’s E7 amendment does play easier than E or your E5. I think it’s because of the relative finger positions of both the preceding C and following Am.
The E5 is just no easier at all.
Furthermore the E5 just doesn’t sound right (to my ear).
But, as Eddie and The Hotrods sang “Do anything you wanna do !”.
E7 can be played instead of E, sounds just as good and is a bit easier!
