Intro -x2-: Am F C G

Verse 1:
          Am F
You can't lie to yourself
       C G
After loving something true
          Am F
And I've never loved a soul
           C G
Quite the way that I loved you
     Am F
You told me you despise
       C G
Everything that I've become
        Am F
How we always turn into
      C G
Everything we're running from

Interlude: Am F C G

       Am F
And I miss the way you followed
         C G
When I jaywalked in the street
         Am F
How you always talked more trash
         C G
Than any boy bad mouthin' me
        Am F
And the way that the oak creaked
          C G
When you snuck up from my bed
    Am F
The way that missing someone
               C G
Will have you seeing steady red

Chorus:
         F
Take it slow as you leave me
          G
Don't you go home this evening
        Am
With someone
                           C
That you're acting like is me
            F
And I will try my hardest darling
 G
Wait on a star that's falling
    Am C
And I will wait so patiently
 Am G
One thing I have quickly
         C
come to know
Am G
Nothing kills you slower than
 C
Letting someone go

Refrain -x2-: Am F C G

            F
So take it slow as you leave me
          G
Don't you go home this evening
        Am
With someone
                           C
That you're acting like is me
            F
And I will try my hardest darling
 G
Wait on a star that's falling
    Am C
And I will wait so desperately
 Am G
One thing I have quickly
         C
come to know
Am G
Nothing kills you slower than
 C
Letting someone go

Refrain -x2-: Am F C G

You told me you despise

Everything that I've become
        Am F
How we always turn into
         C G
All the things we're running from

         F
Take it slow as you leave me
          G
Don't you go home this evening
        Am
With someone
                           C
That you're acting like is me
            F
And I will try my hardest darling
 G
Wait on a star that's falling
    Am C
And I will wait so desperately
 Am G
One thing I have quickly
         C
come to know
Am G
Nothing kills you slower than
 C
