Intro: C G Am F

C G Am F
Sometimes I lay under the moon, I thank God I'm breathing
C G Am F
Then I pray don't take me soon, 'cause I am here for reason

Pre-Chorus:
C G Am F
Sometimes in my tears I drown, but I never let it get me down
        C G Am F
So when negativity surrounds, I know someday it'll all turn around because

Chorus:
C G
All my life I've been waiting for,
          Am F
I've been praying for, for the people to say
C G
That we don't wanna fight no more,
            Am F
there'll be no more wars, and our children will play
C G Am F
One day, one day, one day, oh oh oh
C G Am F
One day, one day, one day, oh oh oh

C G Am F
It's not about win or lose, 'cause we all lose when they feed on the
C G
Souls of the innocent, blood-drenched pavement,
Am F
keep on movin' though the waters stay ragin'
C G Am F
In this maze you could lose your way, your way
         C G Am F
It might drive you crazy, but don't let it phase you no way, no way

Pre-Chorus:
C G Am F
Sometimes in my tears I drown, but I never let it get me down
        C G Am F
So when negativity surrounds, I know someday it'll all turn around because

Chorus:
C G
All my life I've been waiting for,
          Am F
I've been praying for, for the people to say
C G
That we don't wanna fight no more,
            Am F
there'll be no more wars, and our children will play
C G Am F
One day, one day, one day, oh oh oh
C G Am F
One day, one day, one day, oh oh oh

    C G
One day this all will change, treat people the same,
Am F
stop with the violence, down with the hate
    C G
One day we'll all be free, and proud to be
Am F
under the same sun singing songs of freedom like

C G Am F
Wye oh Wye oh oh oh
C G Am F
Wye oh Wye oh oh oh

Chorus:
C G
All my life I've been waiting for,
          Am F
I've been praying for, for the people to say
C G
That we don't wanna fight no more,
            Am F
there'll be no more wars, and our children will play
C G Am F
One day, one day, one day, oh oh oh
C G Am F
One day, one day, one day, oh oh oh

  1. The strum was really difficult to find, but I find it easiest to do a simple DDUUD strum. (I know some people might get confused with what D and U is in the pattern,so D = down and U = up). I like this particular reggae/pop song because it is really inspiring and my older sister used to sing it to me before she moved away. I want to play this song for her birthday!

Hi everyone! I made my own strumming pattern. I hope I can help a bit and explain this clearly lol

    The strumming pattern:

    • Intro = 1 down strum for each chord

    • Verses and pre-chorus = do an island strum (down-down-up-up-down-up/DDUUDU)

    • Chorus = I do 3 different strum patterns here, but it’s really easy:

    C G Am F
One day, one day, one day, oh oh oh

    ► On the C and G = down-down down-up-down-up / DD DUDU

    ■ So if you put it in the lyrics: down on One, down on Day(you could actually use up, but I prefer down), then down-up-down-up
    D D DUDU
    One Day

► On the AM = island strum = down-down-up-up-down-up / DDUUDU because the Day is sung as “Da-a-a-ay”

    ■ Lyrics: down on One, down on Da-, up up on -a-a-, down-up on -ay
    D D U U DU
    One Da-a-a-ay

► On the F = down down down down down down/DDDDDD basically you strum down really fast until the Oh oh oh ends

And then island strum again for the Verse and Pre-chorus and the Wye oh Wye oh oh oh

Easy song! I hope I helped.

Great song! I think it might be too high, though… -5 is most convenient for a baritone voice and soprano ukulele.

  11. Thanks, ukutabs! You really helped me on my ukulele playing because One Day is my favourite song so I would certainly LOVE to play it on my uke. The fact that it’s only 4 chords is amazing! Thanks again!
