+2 sounds really good if you tune the ukulele a whole step down (F A# D G)

milk bread

Danny

What’s the best strumming pattern for this song?

Pogi

DUDDUDD

UkuBoiii

For the verses, i use a picking pattern where i pick the C string once, then the G and A string once, then the E string once, then the C and A string again. I repeat that picking pattern for the verses for each chord and for the chorus, I usually go with D UX DUU DUXDU. X is mute, where you strum down with your palm on the strings. :)

racheleggg

I do a similar picking pattern throughout the whole song, except I pluck C, GA, CE, [rest], A. (Except I’ll kind of turn the last pluck for F and Eb into quarter notes (I’m a pianist, idk if that’s really a thing in guitar/ukulele). On the F, I let the note change as I pull my finger off of that string as I switch the chord, and then for Eb, I pluck A then E in quick succession… sorry this is super unclear, it’s kinda hard to explain.)

lol

sorry, but how can you pick G if the chord is on three strings (and you only pick on)

Erin Reaney

they mean the G string, the one on the top. all the strings have letters, G, C, E, and A. (Goats Can Eat Anything)

For me, the easiest I’ve found is: D-UTD-DTD (T means “tap”)

DU/DU/DU ( / refers to chucking)

Kate

I play it in +2 so for the intro it’s
__________________________________
_________0___________0___________
___0________0_0__________0______
______0__________0_______________
for the intro and then straight into the C chord.
And I use D D D DU for each chord throughout the whole song.

noah

you are a lifesaver. i am fairly new to this and am incapable of strumming patterns while i’m singing and so i either find a really simple strumming pattern or i find a way to pluck it. i plucked it the whole song and it sounds nice, different than the original, but it’s pretty. this is one of my boyfriend and i’s songs and i recorded me singing it and sent it to him, thank you :) sorry that’s a whole load of information you didn’t need

RyBread

I also like (idk the correct term) sliding my finger after the Eb to Gm (in one strum)
Like:
Gm Eb-Gm
A——1———1————
E——3———3————
C——2———3/2———
G——————————

RyBread

Actually nvm you strum Eb once, then strum again (with Eb) and then do Eb-Gm transition.

RyBread

There’s a plucking pattern (that’s all on the A string) that’s one octave higher than it is in the song, but here it is (your fingers need to be able to reach far)
A – 1 8 5 – 1 1 8 5 – 1 1 8 5 – 6 6 3 – 53

Helpful!

Aaron

What would a good strumming pattern be

TheRedFox

I finger pick like this… G and A at the same time, E, G A, C, E…

Natasha

I personally think c then e and a together and then g sound more like the original song but yours sounds nice as well

TheRedFox

Natasha, that sounds cool too! Never thought of that. Thanks. :)

TheHeadCupid

I like using C then e and a together twice then c

@therealbillcosby

what I do is, say your using an F major, pic strings in this pattern, E, A Strum. i usually stop the strings right after the a then strum down once quickly. lemme know if this was helpful.

Lexiii

D DU UDU

LIFECOULDBEADREAM

i use this strumming pattern too. its very simple and thats how i like it :)

madi

love this! thanks so much!

frizzle frazzle

dudes a life changer is to change last chord from Eb to Bb.

Isabella

someone help me!! i’m new and i really need it!

yeye

For starters you can just strum every chord once (without any strumming pattern). That way you learn the chord progression and you can even sing along. If you feel like you know it, you can start using a strumming pattern (I use D UTD DTD). Also set the transposer to 2+ because it’s more accurate and is easier to play.

faith

try c,g,am,f it sounds better in my oppinion

Hadley

I love this song so much!! And I’m soooo happy I can play it on my uku! I prefer +2 because it sounds better.
