I use pick-strum for the strumming pattern

The key Gary Jules’ uses is a half step up (+1), I think this is written in the key of the original 80s version
I agree with Jack. I was making up chordd for a song and when i played it to my grandma she said it sounded familiar and then i realized I was playing exactly to the tune of mad world using Am C G D in that exact order.
I found that if you play the AM C G D version, a good picking pattern is 4+1 2 3 4+1 2 3 4+1 2 on each chord, I’m not sure about how fast to go, I’d just find a speed that you think sounds good
I’ve been playing it as 2 3 1 4 2 3 1 4 chord change and it sounds really haunting that way. Obviously from all these comments there is more then one way to to it though.
Just pick the strings like :
1+4 2 3 , 1+4 2 3 , 1+4 2 -> next chord

The ukulele surprisingly turned a very sad, emotional song into a kind, warm hearted song. But to make it sad just like the original song, I would preferably play the chords in the same order as it is shown above but I would just pick the strings in the order of 3 2 4 1 4 1 repetitively over and over until the end of the song.
Try to play it ‘slow’ and don’t strum. Just pick the chords.
Like all 4 of the strings. It sounds calmer and sadder that way.

I use the 0 transpose chords but put a capo on the 1st fret and play everything 1 fret down. My girlfriend and I like to sing together whenever we call, hope this

The rest of it is good except the A at the end of each line sounds a bit too cheerful……I’m not anything near a pro…but maybe a more serious sounding chord could substitute it?
