The key Gary Jules’ uses is a half step up (+1), I think this is written in the key of the original 80s version

The rest of it is good except the A at the end of each line sounds a bit too cheerful……I’m not anything near a pro…but maybe a more serious sounding chord could substitute it?

I agree with Jack. I was making up chordd for a song and when i played it to my grandma she said it sounded familiar and then i realized I was playing exactly to the tune of mad world using Am C G D in that exact order.

It means that every chord is raised one upwards, for example, G in +1 would be A. Also G in -1 would be F.

I found that if you play the AM C G D version, a good picking pattern is 4+1 2 3 4+1 2 3 4+1 2 on each chord, I’m not sure about how fast to go, I’d just find a speed that you think sounds good

when playing at -2 i like to end it with plucking 1+4, 1+3, and 2+4 with a Dm chord
