   Em
   C Em E
   Am Em G

Em
Hopping fences we ran
Em
Sipping swigs of our cans

Can you pass me the lighter mate, give me your fire
        G D
Filming xxxx on that camera you nicked / it’s my dad’s
                  Em
We can both barely stand

Verse 1:
Em
Over hedges we’d headlong
Em
And on ledges we’d land
Em
From every height I’d fall I’d call
Em
/We hear our legends, we hear them, they call

I’d reach out for your hand you sing
G D
If I have to be who I was / you’re not
               Em
Do I have to be who I am

Pre-Chorus:
Am Em
Didn’t the trees tell us their stories
         Am Em
Yeah but we, we called them all liars
Am C D C
And they said come down now
-nc- Em
    But we climbed so

Chorus:
 C D
High, high into the night
Em C D
I look at those secret worlds you call eyes
                       Em
And wonder if we might
                  C
There’s something changed
D Em
The leaves like broken shards of stained glass windows

/There’s something weaved into our windows
C D Em
   Oh, shining in your light

Verse 2:
C Em
You were a king and his castle
Em
I was every dirty rascal

If you asked me for my lighter mate I gave you my fire
G
I’d call as you climbed
D Em
And I’d catch you every time you fell

Verse 3:
Em
‘Cos I will suffer silence for the strings you tune

And I’ll withstand what’s written for the writer in you
         G D
Write me well my love, write me weird
                   Em
Write me willing, write me well

Pre-Chorus:
Am Em
Didn’t the trees tell us their stories
         Am
Yeah but we, we thought you were mental
        Em
You were talking to trees
Am C D C
And they said come down now
-nc- Em
    But we climbed so

Chorus:
C D A
High, high into the night
Em C D
I look at those secret worlds you call eyes
                       Em
And wonder if we might
                  C
There’s something changed
D Em C
The leaves like broken shards of stained glass windows

D C Em
 Oh
