Ashe writes much of her music. She went to Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2015. She has lived in San Diego and talks about moving to Los Angeles. Ashe is signed to Mom+Pop; other artists on the label are Flume and Alina Baraz. Ashe put an e on her name to pay homage to Carole King. Artists she admires are Stevie Nicks, King, John Mayer, Justin Vernon, Bon Iver, and actress Diane Keaton. She has written a song for Demi Lovato, You Don't Do It For Me Any More.
