Intro - x2 -: C G Am F

  C G
I walked to the door with you, the air was cold
    Am F
But something about it felt like home somehow, and I,
C G
Left my scarf there at your sisters house
        Am F-once
And you still got it, in your drawer, even now

Interlude: C G Am F

        C G
Oh your sweet dispositon and my wide eyed gaze
      Am F
We're singing in the car getting lost upstate
    C G
The autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place
      Am F
And I can picture it after all these days

      C G
And I know it's long gone and, and magics not here no more
      Am G F G Am G
And I might be okay but I'm not fine at all

      C G
Cause there we are again on that little town street
    Am F
You almost ran the red cause you were lookin' over at me
           C G Am F
Wind in my hair, I was there, I remember it all too well

      C G
Photo album on the counter your cheeks were turing red
                 Am F
You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin size bed
         C G
And your mothers telling stories 'bout you on a t-ball team
    Am F
You tell me about your past thinkin' your future was me

      C G
And I know it's long gone and it was nothing else I could do
      Am G F G Am G
And I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed too

      C G
Cause here we are again in the middle of the night
   Am F
We dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator light
         C G Am F
Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all too well

Interlude: C G Am F G

                 C G
And maybe we got lost in translation maybe I asked for too much
               Am F
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up
        C G Am F
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well
        C G
Hey you call me up again just to break me like a promise
   Am F
So casually cruel in the name of being honest
          C G
I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lyin' here
                    Am F C G Am F
Cause I remember it all all all too well

C G
Time won't fly it's like I'm paralyzed by it
            Am F
I'd like to be my old self again but I'm still tryin' to find it
      C G
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
        Am F
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone
        C G
But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
           Am F
Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me
             C G Am F
You cant get rid of it cause you remember it all too well yeah

      C G
Cause there we are again when I loved you so
Am F
Back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known
       C G Am F
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well
           C G
Wind in my hair, you were there, you remember it oh
         Am F
Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all
       C G Am F
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well

  1. A good strumming pattern for this is DDDD DU!

  2. Taylor Swift

Thanks so much for putting this on here!

  3. If you listen to the recording, you can tell that the strumming pattern is DDDDU

  4. I asked my ukulele teacher what the strumming pattern was, and she figured out that it was: DDDDDDDDDU or if you simplify it it’s: DDDDDU. I hope that helped!

  5. I figured our how to do it like it sounds in the song (the fingerpicking) but it’s really hard to explain in writing. Anyway that was pretty irrelevant LOL

  6. You can also try DUUD-UUD for the whole song :)

  7. CMGoodvinch

So yes, there are some good suggestions for strumming pattern.

I’ve seen DD-UU-DU in the comments.

I originally tried DD-UU and I do think it is a little better with that extra U that DDUUDU provides instead of just DDUUDDUUDDUUDDUU for the entire song.

  8. What is the strumming pattern?

  9. TheRedFox

These are great! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any ukulele tutorials on YouTube to learn the strumming pattern, but I was able to sorta adopt one from watching a few on guitars. Basically it’s a down strum then an up strum then six half-strums. (I don’t think that’s the technical term for it.) So strumming just the E and A string six times. And it’s basically that through the whole song. Also, I think Csus4 sounds a bit better than C. That’s just my opinion as I know the song is properly played with a C. But it’s not that much harder, especially when transitioning from the F chord, and I think it sounds more interesting.

  10. I found DDUUDU to be a good strumming pattern for this song

  11. Someone help me with a strumming pattern for this please, can’t figure it out properly

    • I just down strums in 4/4 and I think it sounds ok, and I do single strums until the first interlude and during the “time won’t fly…” part until “but you keep my old scarf” where I go back to how the rest of the song is. I hope that makes sense.

  12. this absolutely perfect!

  13. these chords are perfect thank you!

  14. purpleswifttt

this is absolutely amazing!! <3 thank you for sharing the chords!! <3

  15. DanceLikeStarlight

bethhope13 it is “I walked through the door with you” but it is actually “you tell me ’bout you past”

  16. bethhope13

But no offence but I thought some lyrics were a bit mixed up? Like I thought it was “I walked through the door with you”, not “to the door with you”? And “You taught me about your past”, not “you tell me about your past”? No matter, I was just wondering in case I was the one who had got it wrong. Thank you so much for this! It’s just what I needed! <13

    • You might be right but I think the lyrics in this make sense. I mean, you can’t “walk THROUGH a door,” you have to open it first. :P
I agree with you that when you listen to the real song it does sound like walk through a door and taught me about your past, I’m just saying I like these lyrics better.
I am a hard core Taylor Swift listener, by the way, so I absolutely love this site, it’s SO helpful.

  17. bethhope13

I have been looking all over YouTube but couldn’t find any All Too Well ukulele tutorials, they’ve all just been covers. And I’ve looked everywhere for easy ukulele chords of the song to learn, but haven’t found any.. until this! It’s just what I needed! This is my favourite song so I really wanted to learn it. THANK YOU so much! <13 AND I LOVE TAYLOR SWIFT FOREVER AND ALWAYS! <13

  18. freebush13

    • Taylor Swift (the real one)

      HI tilly_george!
As you may know, this song took me forever to write and i am ALL TOO HAPPY you like it! Hope to see you at the rep tour!
      -Taylor <3

      • Ok, people need to stop going around pretending to be Taylor. She doesn’t spend her time on this website, and wouldn’t reply like that. It’s so annoying!

  20. Hello! I know I comment on like all of the songs I look at but I am so grateful for your website!!! Thank you sososo much!!!! :)
