Verse:
     G Em
I've heard there was a secret chord
     G Em
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
    C D G D
But you don't really care for music, do you?

Pre-Chorus:
   G C D
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
    Em C
The minor fall, the major lift
    D Bm Em
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Chorus:
     C Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      C G-D-G-G
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Verse:
     G Em
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
    G Em
You saw her bathing on the roof
    C D G D
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you

Pre-Chorus:
    G
She tied you
     C D
To a kitchen chair
    Em
She broke your throne,
    C
she cut your hair
    D Bm Em
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Chorus:
     C Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      C G-D-G-G
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Verse:
G Em
Maybe I've been here before
  G Em
I know this room, I've walked this floor
  C D G D
I used to live alone before I knew you

Pre-Chorus:
     G C D
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Em C
love is not a victory march
       D Bm Em
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Chorus:
     C Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      C G-D-G-G
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Verse:
      G Em
There was a time you'd let me know
G Em
What's real and going on below
    C D G D
But now you never show it to me do you?

Pre-Chorus:
   G C D
Remember when I moved in you?
    Em C
The holy dark was moving too
    D Bm Em
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Chorus:
     C Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      C G-D-G-G
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Verse:
G Em
Maybe there's a God above
    G Em
And all I ever learned from love
    C D G D
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you

Pre-Chorus:
     G C D
It's not a cry you can hear at night
     Em C
It's not somebody who's seen the light
       D Bm Em
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Outro:
C Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
C G-D
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
C Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
C G-D-G
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

  1. the version i’m used to hearing is in -5. It’s still easy. Even if i leave out the Bm when it shows up, it still sounds good, as a beginner.

  2. I love this song, and these chords/tabs really don’t do it justice. First of all, the strumming pattern on ukulele should be on strings C – E – G – A for all chords to make it a proper arpeggio as opposed to the G – C – E – A pattern here, but I could overlook that. But then when it gets to the line “the baffled king composing…”, that chord should be an E7, not Em. There is no Em in this song (at least in this key). E7 is a very simple chord, and it really moves the song along, and the Em (which is a harder chord, IMO) makes it sound completely wrong.

  3. Love this song. If you’re a beginner, this song actually sounds really good with just one strum for each chord!

This song is truly amazing. I recommend everyone to try it out. This was one of my first songs on the Ukulele, and it really pushed me to try hard, and I did that, now bringing me to a place where I though I couldn’t even do. Try, try, try, and you will succeed!

  6. Is there somewhere on this site where I can play along with a recording? Thanks in advance.

  7. strumming pattern for chords?

  8. This song sounds really good in a minor key. The chords are Cm, Eb, Fm, Gm, and Ab. Enjoy.

  9. What a beautiful song !
Thank you Uke tabs for this tab that allows us to play it.

    God bless !

-2 is where Pentatonix sings it at, if you’re trying to follow along.

  11. It sucks that I cant sing ;(

  12. REALLY loved learning this struggled with is it a single strum or several strums of the same chord… this is the third song I have learnt and thought it was good just need some help with strumming :/

  13. YEEEEESSSSSS!!!!! IKR??!!

  14. Yeah, it does to me too…

  15. This is really good +5 for higher voices :)

  16. I use E7 instead of Em

  17. Artemis

-5 is good if your finding it too high

  18. The Em should be an Em7. It sounds much better that way.

  19. Yeah I agreed, try switching to transposer -7, I liked the way that one sounded and the chords were pretty easy!
