Intro -x2-: Gadd9 C Bm7 C

     Gadd9
I'm standing on the borderline
       Em
What should I bring or leave behind
      C
From who I was
    D
For who I'm gonna be?

Verse 1:
Gadd9 Em
I still haven't packed my bags
             Gadd9
It's time to go
                      Em
And I could not care less
              C
So now, I'll miss the train
                 D
a walk's still progress made
  D Gadd9 Em
I just won't arrive quite as fast

Verse 2:
Gadd9 Em
I'm thinking way back
             Gadd9
To where I'm from
                Em
To the things I had
        C
I feel I've forgotten something
                    D
Iâm sure that it's probably nothing
            D Gadd9 D
But that's based more on fear than on fact

Chorus:
     Gadd9
I'm standing on the borderline
  Em
Between two states- I'm petrified
    Em Gadd9
To push ahead or turn back homewardly

Verse 3:
Gadd9 Em
I'm a shadow of the past
                Gadd9
The shadow of a boy
                    Em
a boy who couldn't last
                        C
They said: "Son, don't change"
           D D Gadd9 Em
And I keep hoping they won't see how much I have

Verse 4:
   Gadd9 Em
a feeling's not a thing you own
              Gadd9
But it can be lost
                  Em
I just want to be home
                         C
'Cause home's where the heart is
             D
And when I departed
     D Gadd9 D
I might've abandoned them both

Chorus:
     Gadd9
I'm standing on the borderline
  Em
Between two states-- I'm petrified
      Gadd9
I'm standing on the borderline
      Em
What should I bring or leave behind
     C
From who I was
    D Bm7
For who I'm gonna be?

Bridge:
     D Gbm Gadd9
I'd like to say: "I'm the same person from yesterday
            D
Nothing's changed"

         D Gbm Gadd9
'Cause yesterday I was eager to see what awaited
             D
I wasn't jaded

     D Gbm Bm7
But no!
            Gadd9
I can't go back

D
Youth seemed sweeter
                Gbm Bm7
But if I could return, all I've learned would be forfeit
           Gadd9 D Gbm Bm7 Gadd9 D Gbm Bm7 Gadd9
I won't go back

Outro:
     D Gbm
I'm followed by the borderline as I pace forward in my life
 Bm7 Gadd9 D
Seeking the times I'll long for once they leave me

On the Sander Side

I’m so happy this song was added, I’ve been waiting so long!!!

Ash

I believe that C works much better than cadd9 in this song for 0

TwentyOnePilotsPanickingAtTheDicoWhileFallingOut

If you want to give it a more mysterious (¯\_(ツ)_/¯) sound you can use F instead of Cadd9. I’m only saying this bc I thought Cdd9 sounded a bit weird, but I agree with Ash if you want to stick to the original sound of the song.

Angie

In the first chorus I changed the Am to an F chord, I think it sounds better =P

MC

Does anybody know the strumming pattern by chance?

tsuki.sadboii

I’m not entirely sure but I use dduudu

Angie

I’m playing around with a strumming and plucking pattern. I haven’t fully figured it out but I’m currently using
Strum 2 4 3 4
with my thumb switching between strumming, plucking the 2nd string, and plucking the 3rd string with my index finger plucking the 4th string
(The 1st string being the string closest to your chin and the 4th being the furthest string)
