Verse 1:
A Dmaj7 Bm7
Salt air, and the rust on your door
               Bm
I never needed anything more
A Dmaj7 Bm7
Whispers of "Are you sure?"
             Bm
"Never have I ever  before"

Chorus:
    A
But I can see us lost in the memory
Dmaj7 Bm7
August slipped away into a moment in time
                    E
'Cause it was never mine
    A
And I can see us twisted in bedsheets
Dmaj7 Bm7
August sipped away like a bottle of wine
                      E
'Cause you were never mine

Verse 2:
A Dmaj7 Bm7
Your back beneath the sun
                Bm
Wishin' I could write my name on it
A Dmaj7 Bm7
Will you call when you're back at school?
           Bm
I remember thinkin' I had you

Chorus:
    A
But I can see us lost in the memory
Dmaj7 Bm7
August slipped away into a moment in time
                    E
'Cause it was never mine
    A
And I can see us twisted in bedsheets
Dmaj7 Bm7
August sipped away like a bottle of wine
                      E
'Cause you were never mine

Interlude: A Dmaj7 Bm E

Bridge:
A Dmaj7
Back when we were still changin' for the better
             Bm
Wanting was enough
               E
For me, it was enough
                A
To live for the hope of it all
                       Dmaj7
Canceled plans just in case you'd call
                             Bm
And say, "Meet me behind the mall"
                       E
So much for summer love and saying "us"
                   A Dmaj7
'Cause you weren't mine to lose
                    Bm E
You weren't mine to lose, oh

Chorus:
    A
But I can see us lost in the memory
Dmaj7 Bm7
August slipped away into a moment in time
                    E
'Cause it was never mine
    A
And I can see us twisted in bedsheets
Dmaj7 Bm7
August sipped away like a bottle of wine
                      E
'Cause you were never mine

Outro:
A Dmaj7
'Cause you were never mine
      Bm
Never mine
    E
But do you remember?
                A
Remember when I pulled up and said "Get in the car"
         Dmaj7
And then canceled my plans just in case you'd call?
Bm E
Back when I was livin' for the hope of it all, for the hope of it all
                    A
"Meet me behind the mall"
           A

Back when I was livin' for the hope of it all, for the hope of it all
                    A
"Meet me behind the mall"-
         A

Bm E
Back when I was livin' for the hope of it all -For the hope of it all-
                   A Dmaj7
For the hope of it all, for the hope of it all

I’ve been using Ddddu Ddddu for a strum pattern, anyone else have one they’re using?

avery

i use single down strums for the verses and bridge and then d-d-uuududu for everything else !!

Joelle Egbert

it’s not fully six at the end, you can only hear about 4!

2nd Ukulele

It’s up to personal preference. I just do the Outro until I feel like I should be done. So I could be doing it for hours or 2 seconds.
