Verse 1:
F Am
two little boys, met each other on the playground
Em
just like the rest, didn't stick out from the crowd
F Am
but between themselves, they knew that they were different
Em
but they pushed it down, cause nobody would even listen

Pre-Chorus:
F
their parents always saying "boy when you grow up,
             Am
you're gonna find a nice lady, make sure you act though.
         Em
you'll be living a life like barbie and ken,

cmon suck it up and forget this nonsense"

Chorus:
F
what if he wants ken, not barbie?
              Am
why should he have to say sorry?
          Em
tell me do you even listen, to all the dumb xxxx you're slippin'
           F
we can love who we want to
             Am
don't say he's not supposed to
      Em
if he loves ken, not barbie

he doesn't have to say sorry
          F
no not to you

not to me
       Am
not to anyone, anyone, anyone
       Em
not to you

not to me

not to anyone, anyone, anyone

Verse 2:
F Am
seventeen years old, feeling like a stranger at home
Em
keeping his head down low, hide away so that nobody will know
F Am
avoiding mum and dad, when they're asking "who's your girlfriend?"
Em
cause lord forbid they see, his true identity

Pre-Chorus:
F
his parents always saying "boy when will you see?
                 Am
you'll be happy I know, it's just a woman you need.
        Em
you'll be such a nice ken, just gotta find your barbie-

make sure you act like a man, it's what you born to be."

Chorus:
F
what if he wants ken, not barbie?
              Am
why should he have to say sorry?
          Em
tell me do you even listen, to all the dumb xxxx you're slippin'
           F
we can love who we want to
             Am
don't say he's not supposed to
      Em
if he loves ken, not barbie

he doesn't have to say sorry
          F
no not to you

not to me
       Am
not to anyone, anyone, anyone
       Em
not to you

not to me

not to anyone, anyone, anyone

Bridge:
C Cmaj7 C7 F
no, no, he doesn't have to say sorry
C Cmaj7 C7 F
no, no, he's never gonna say sorry

Chorus:
                 F
he always wanted ken, not barbie
              Am
he never ever has to say sorry
           Em Em
and nobody is gonna listen, to all the dumb xxxx you're slipping
            F
we can love who we want to
          Am
don't say he's not supposed to
             Em
he'll always love ken, not barbie
               Em
and he doesn't have to say sorry

Love this song! +1 is a bit easier

Willy Böhm

Hi,
I had requested this song and I just wanted to say: Thank you for making this song available and for the work you have put into everything.

I wish you a wonderful day.
And a happy 2021.

Best regards
Willy Böhm

Sacre bleu

I played it by softly plucking the C and F string at the same time while playing the chords. I really like this song, thank you for making it!

Grace

This sounds great, thanks
Also I was finding the Gbsus2 a bit tricky and I found that a normal Gb works fine instead
