dwta (real name Jhasmine Villanueva, born August 3, 2001) is a Filipino singer-songwriter born and raised in Bicol, Philippines. Emerging from the independent scene, she is known for blending folk-inspired melodies with contemporary indie and alternative sounds. Her stage name, dwta, is derived from combining the Filipino words diwa (spirit) and tala (star), forming diwata (“fairy” or “muse”). She often writes music in her native tongue, showcasing her roots and identity while experimenting with modern arrangements.
