Intro -x2-: F C G Am

Verse 1:
              F C
I could never pretend that I don't love you
                G Am
You could never pretend that I'm your man
                   F C
That's exactly the way that I want it
                   G Am
That's exactly the way that I am

                       F C
And you call me in the mornin with your troubles
          G Am
Takin it downtown every night
                        F C
I could never place the stars at night above ya
                     G Am
Got my hands on the ground and you know I'm right

Chorus:
             F C
You wait so long
             G Am
You wait so long
             F C
You wait so long
             G Am
You wait so long

Interlude -x2-: F C G Am

Verse 2:
                       F C
It's a coffee stained earth every time it happens
               G Am
Laugh it up honey it ain't that bad
                       F C
And the afterthought rose to recognition
                    G Am
Like every other coffin that I had

                       F C
And your Buick broke down in Winnemucca
                    G Am
You fall to your knees and you pray to the lord
                  F C
Then you take a poke at the politicians
                          G Am
Nothing happens in this burnt down town anymore

Chorus:
             F C
You wait so long
             G Am
You wait so long
             F C
You wait so long
             G Am
You wait so long

Interlude -x6-: F C G Am

Verse 3:
                     F C
And your heart rolls on like a frozen freight train
                    G Am
You know that I'd help you if I can
                 F C
But I'm just a raindrop in a river
               G Am
Just a little itty bitty grain of sand

                       F C
And you know that I'm doomed to repeat this
                  G Am
With all the bad habits that I learned
                           F C
But its better than your fire-borne fornication
                   G Am
And all the dirty money that you earned

Chorus:
             F C
You wait so long
             G Am
You wait so long
             F C
You wait so long
             G Am
You wait so long

             F C
You wait so long
             G Am
You wait so long
             F C
You wait so long
             G Am
You wait so long

Outro -repeat-: F C G Am
