Intro -x2-: Am C F

Chorus:
Am C F
Oh woh oh oh oh woh oh oh woh oh
Am C F
Oh woh oh oh oh oh
Am C F
Oh woh oh oh oh woh oh oh woh oh
Am C F
Oh woh oh oh oh oh

Verse 1:
        Am C F
On some level I think I always understood
           Am C F
That these hands of mine were clumsy not clever
      Am C F
And I tried to do the best that I could
             D F
But try as I might I could not bring myself to hold you

Interlude -x2-: Am C F

Verse 2:
       Am C F
It's a secret I keep tucked inside my chest
          Am C F
With this heart of mine thats guilty not remorseful
         Am C F
There is love that doesn't have a place to rest
                  D F
But it would have buried you if it had settled on your shoulder

Interlude: Am C F

Chorus:
Am C F
Oh woh oh oh oh woh oh oh woh oh
Am C F
Oh woh oh oh oh oh

Verse 3:
        Am C F
On some level I think I always understood
       Am C F
That a ship could never really love an anchor
     Am C F
So I did the only thing that I could
                D F
And severed the rope to set you sailing from my harbor

Interlude -x2-: Am C F

Verse 4:
          Am C F
There are times where I still wonder a-bout you
        Am C F
You are someone I have loved but never known
           Am C F
And you'll never see the reasons I had
               D F
For keeping my claws away when they were close enough to hurt you

Verse 5:
     Am C F
I am selfish I am broken I am cruel
     Am C F
I am all the things they might have said to you
       Am C F
Do you ever think of me and my two hands
             D
And wondered why
                        F
They never soothed your fevers
    D
And wondered why
                F
They never tied your shoes
    D
And wondered why
                    F
They never held you gently
    D
And wondered why
                   F E
They never had the chance to lose you

Chorus:
Am C F
Am C F
Oh woh oh oh oh woh oh oh woh oh
Am C F
Oh woh oh oh oh oh
Am C F
Oh woh oh oh oh woh oh oh woh oh
Am C F
Oh woh oh oh oh oh

Biography

Destiny itself assembled the Crane Wives, and now they seek only to make music worthy of destiny. That, and act as silly as humanly possible.

“The Crane Wife is an old Japanese tale. While there are many variations of the tale, a common version is that a poor man finds an injured crane on his doorstep (or outside with an arrow in it), takes it in and nurses it back to health. After he releases the crane, a woman appears at his doorstep with whom he falls in love and marries.
