          D

Em

          D
Sings a song

Sounds like she's singin'
Em

Verse 1:
        C
And the days go by
           D
Like a strand in the wind
         Em
In the web that is my own

I begin again
C
Said to my friend, baby
D Em
 Nothin' else mattered
C D
He was no more
         Em
Than a baby then
        C
Well, he seemed broken hearted
D Em
 Somethin' within him
          C
But the moment
         D
That I first laid
Em
Eyes on him
             C D Em
All alone on the edge of seventeen
                 C
Just like the white winged dove

Chorus:
          D
Sings a song

Sounds like she's singin'
Em
Whoo, baby, whoo, whoo
                 C
Just like the white winged dove
          D
Sings a song

Sounds like she's singin'
      Em
Said, whoo, baby, whoo, said, whoo

Verse 2:
        C
Well, I went today
      D
Maybe I will go again
    Em
Tomorrow, yeah, yeah
            C
Well, the music there
           D Em
Well it was hauntingly familiar
       C
When I see you doin'
          D
What I try to do for me
          Em
With their words of a poet

And a voice from a choir
      C
And a melody
D Em
 And nothin' else mattered
                 C
Just like the white winged dove

Chorus:
          D
Sings a song

Sounds like she's singin'
Em
Whoo, baby, whoo, said, whoo
                 C
Just like the white winged dove
          D
Sings a song

Sounds like she's singin'
      Em
Said, whoo, baby, whoo, said, whoo

Verse 3:
        Em
The clouds never expect it

When it rains
                    C
But the sea changes colours

But the sea

Does not change
  Em
So with the slow graceful flow
                C
Of age I went forth with an age old

Desire to please

On the edge of seventeen

Break:
Em C D Em C
Just like the white winged dove

Chorus:
          D
Sings a song

Sounds like she's singin'
Em
Whoo, baby, whoo, said, whoo
                 C
Just like the white winged dove
          D
Sings a song

Sounds like she's singin'
Em
Whoo, baby, whoo, said, whoo
          C
Well then suddenly

Verse 4:
          D Em
There was no one left standing in the hall

Yeah, yeah
         C
In a flood of tears
     D Em
That no one really ever heard fall at all
               C
When I went searchin' for an answer
           D
Up the stairs and down the hall
Em
Not to find an answer

Just to hear the call
         C D Em
Of a nightbird singin' come away

          D
Sings a song

Sounds like she's singin'
Em
Whoo, baby, whoo, said, whoo
        Em
Well, I hear you

Bridge:

In the morning

And I hear you

At nightfall

Sometimes to be near you
                      C
Is to be unable to hear you
D Em
 My love
                 C D
I'm a few years older than you, my love
Em C
Just like the white winged dove

Chorus:
          D
Sings a song

Sounds like she's singin'
