Alternative, maybe easier, version:
  • Transpose the chords 1 half step down [ -1 ]
  • Put a capo on fret 1 to stay in the same key

You can replace the F#maj7 with a regular F# to make it easier.

  Gb Gbmaj7
I breathe you in with smoke in the backyard lights,
           B Db
we used to laugh until we choked into the wasted nights.
           Gb Gbmaj7
It was the best time of my life, but now I sleep alone,
            B Db
So darling, don't, don't wake me up, 'cause my thrill is gone.
       B Db
In the sunset turning red behind the smoke,
             Gb
forever and alone.
Yeah!

Interlude: Gb Bbm Gb Bbm

                 Gb Gbmaj7
You've gone and sewn me to this bed, the taste of you and me
           B Db
will never leave my lips again under the blinding rain.
        Gb
I wanna hold your hand so tight I'm gonna break my wrist,
             B Db
and when the vultures sing tonight I'm gonna join right in.

          Gb
I'll sing along, oh
Bbm
'cause I don't know any other song.
           Ebm
I'll sing along,
                       Bb7
but I'm barely hanging on.
                          Ebm
No, I'm barely hanging on.
                                     Bb7
By the time you're hearing this I'll already be gone,
                B Db Gb Bbm
and now there's nothing to do but scream at the drunken moon.

           Gb
This isn't fair! - No! -
                 Gbmaj7
Don't you try to blame this on me.
   Ebm7 Db
My love for you was bulletproof but you're the one who shot me.
Gb Bb7
And god damn it, I can barely say your name,
Ebm Bb7
so I'll try to write and fill the pen with blood from the sink.

Ebm Bb7 B
Woah oh
Bb7 Bb7 Ebm
But don't just say it, you should sing my name.
   Bb7 B
Pretend that it's a song 'cause forever it's yours,
           Db
and we can sing this on the way home.

Interlude: Gb Bbm

- pause - Gb
I'll sing along, oh
Bbm Gb Bbm
'cause I don't know any other song.
          Ebm
I'll sing along,
                      Bb7
but I'm barely hanging on.

No, I'm barely hanging on.
Ebm Bb7
By the time you're hearing this I'll already be gone,
                B Db
and now there's nothing to do but tear my voice apart.
B
Nothing to do,
     Db Gb
but scream at the drunken moon.

Am G C F
Am G F

Laura

-1 is easiest

Joyanna

I love -1 but! If you are a woman singing this than you woukd like to change the lyrics you can change the “he’s” to “she’s” and when it says “a gentlemen” you can say “a real woman”! Love this so much!!

Haylie

-1 is easier

zippi1234

+1 is great

ooopsnevermind

-1 definitely easier, and in the chorus, I prefer to play F again instead of playing C.

courtneynel21

so happy this is finally on here

ooopsnevermind

In the chorus, I prefer to play F again instead of playing C.

Gwyneth

I think it sounds better when you skip Forward do F instead of playing G in the Refrain (But just the time when the four Chors come one after the other)

Kirsten

I just put a capo on the first fret then played Am then G then C twice and it’s pretty close to this and it’s like 1000x easier
