Verse:
          G
This is my street
                Am
I smile at the faces
                   D
I’ve known all my life
                     F
They regard me with pride
                G
And everyone’s sweet
                          C
They say, “you’re going places!”
   Em G
So how can I say that while I was
D Em
away I had so much to hide?
                D
“Hey guys, it’s me!
     B7
The biggest disappointment you
Em
know.”
     C G
The kid couldn’t hack it
      Gm F
She’s back and she’s walking real
 Em
slow.
         D7
Welcome home
     G
Just breathe

Chorus:
G D Dm
Sigue andando el camino
    C Eb
Por toda su vida.
   D
Respira.
G D Dm C Eb D
Breathe

Verse:
       D G
As the radio plays
                Am7
Old forgotten boleros
              G
I think of the days
                   F
When this city was mine
                G
I remember the praise
                   D
“Ay, te adoro, te quiero,”
   Em7 C
The neighborhood waved
                D
Said, “Nina, be brave” and
                Em
“You're gonna be fine!”
               D
And maybe it’s me,
       B7 Em
But it all seems like lifetimes ago
     C G Gm
So what do I say to these faces
     F Em
That I used to know
     D
“Hey I’m home.”

Bridge:
Em D
Mira, Nina,
G C
No me preocupo por ella.
                          Em
They’re not worried about me
       D G
Mira, allí esta nuestra estrella.
             B7
They are all counting on me to
  Em
succeed.
               D
Ella si da la talla,
         G Em
I am the one who made it out!
C
The one who always made the grade
Eb
But maybe I should have just

Stayed home...
     Em D
When I was a child, I stayed wide
                      C
Awake, climbed to the highest place
         B7
On every fire escape, restless
    Em
To climb
            C
I got every scholarship, saved
      G
Every dollar, the first to go to
B7 Em
College, how do I tell them why
                 C
I’m coming back home?
         G B7
With my eyes on the horizon
     Em D C
Just me and the gwb asking,
G Eb Dm
“Gee, Nina, What’ll you be?”

Verse:
               G
Straighten the spine
               C
Smile for the neighbors
             G
Everything’s fine
             C
Everything’s cool
               G
The standard reply:
                         D
“Lots of tests, lots of papers.”
Em C
Smile, wave goodbye
            D
Pray to the sky, oh, God!
C D Em
What will my parents say?
    C D Em
Can I go in there and say,
   C G Gm
“I know that I’m letting you down?”
