Intro -x2-: Bm A G -x2-

Verse 1:
Bm A G
Must of been mid afternoon
Bm A G
I could tell by how far the child's shadow stretched out and
Bm A
He walked with a purpose
G
In his sneakers down the street
G Bm A
He had many questions
      G
Like children often do

He said

Chorus 1:
D E7 G
Tell me all your thoughts on God
D E7 G
and Tell me am I very far

Interlude: Bm

Verse 2:
Bm A G
Must of been late afternoon
Bm A G
On our way the sun broke free of the clouds
Bm A G
We count only blue cars
G
Skip the cracks in the street
G Bm A
And ask many questions
      G
Like children often do

We said

Chorus 2:
D E7 G
Tell me all your thoughts on God
G
Cause I'd really like to meet her
D E7 G
And ask her why we're who we are
D E7 G
Tell me all your thoughts on God
G
Cause I am on my way to see her
D E7 G
So tell me am I very far
Bm A G
Am I very far now

Solo -x2-: Bm A G

Verse 3:
Bm A G
Its getting cold picked up the pace
Bm A G
How our shoes make hard noises in this place
Bm A G
Our clothes are stained
G
We pass many, cross eyed people
        Bm A
And ask many questions
      G
Like children often do

Chorus 3:
D E7 G
Tell me all your thoughts on God
G
Cause I'd really like to meet her
D E7 G
And ask her why we're who we are
D E7 G
Tell me all your thoughts on God
G
Cause I am on my way to see her
D E7 G
So tell me am I very far

Biography

The Santa Barbara, California band Dishwalla made a big splash in 1996 with their catchy pop single “Counting Blue Cars.” With the gritty heart and soul of those who came before them, Dishwalla’s hard rock sound was enough for fans to make “Counting Blue Cars” one of the most-requested songs of that year.
