Verse 1:
D E Gbm A
Up the misty mountain
     D E Gbm A
Wild flowers bind the ground
     D E Gbm A
Down by the rushing river
           D E Gbm A
Force will wear those boulders down
       D E Gbm A
Me I'm underneath my covers
       D E Gbm A
Me I'm trapped inside my brain
         D E Gbm A
While up above the misty mountain
   D E Gbm A
Up above the rushing river
   D E Gbm A
Up above the bed of longing
       D E Gbm
The eagle takes the wind

Chorus:
    A E D
The eagle takes the wind my friend
    D Gbm
The eagle takes the wind
    A E D
It makes me think of this my friend
    D Gbm
Where does the eagle live in me?

Interlude:
   D E Gbm A
   D E E

Verse 2:
        D E Gbm A
Oh I am crawling through this city
          D E Gbm A
I say the city will be my home
      D E Gbm A
I say Ferron you are halfway pretty
            D E Gbm A
And may you never be alone
      D E Gbm A
Be it scorn or be it favour
      D E Gbm A
Be it but a moment gone
      D E Gbm A
But I stood before the mirror
        D E Gbm A
Like an open-ended cavern
       D E Gbm A
Like a breath held inhaled, holding,
      D E Gbm
And I barely knew my name

Chorus:
    A E D
I barely knew my name my friend
D Gbm
I barely knew my name
    A E D
It makes me think of this my friend
D Gbm
Where do I live in me?

Interlude:
   D E Gbm A
   D E E

Verse 3:
          D E Gbm A
Oh it's a planet of resistance
        D E Gbm A
It's a whirling flame of choice
           D E Gbm A
Are you my comrades in persistence
                D E Gbm A
I swear they'll know us by our voice
          D E Gbm A
Though we lay down in dusty corners
        D E Gbm A
We are ragged as a scar
            D E Gbm A
And when we rest our eyes stay open
        D E Gbm
We are always off to war

Chorus:
       A E D
We're always off to war my friend
D Gbm
We're always off to war
       A E D
And it makes me think of this my friend
D Gbm
Where can the quiet be?

Interlude:
   D E Gbm A
   D E E

Verse 4:
          D E Gbm A
Oh is it up the misty mountain
           D E Gbm A
Where wild flowers bind the ground
       D E Gbm A
Is it down by the rushing river
            D E Gbm A
Where force wears those boulders down
      D E Gbm A
Is it underneath my covers
       D E Gbm A
Is it trapped inside my brain
          D E Gbm A
Is it up above the misty mountain
          D E Gbm A
Is it up above the rushing river
          D E Gbm A
Is it up above the bed of longing
          D E Gbm A
Where the eagle takes the wind?

Outro:
    D E Gbm A
the eagle takes the wind?
    D E Gbm A
the eagle takes the wind?
    D E Gbm A
the eagle takes the wind?
