Intro: Am Em G D

Verse:
       Am Em
I was perched outside in the pouring rain trying to make myself a sail
            G D
Then I'll float to you my darlin' with the evening on my tail
                 Am Em
Although not the most honest means of travel It gets me there nonetheless
          G D
I'm a heartless man at worst, babe and a helpless one at best

Chorus:
               Am Em
Darling I'll bathe your skin I'll even wash your clothes
              G D
Just give me some candy, before I go
                  Am Em
Oh, darling I'll kiss your eyes and lay you down on your rug
               G D
Just give me some candy after my heart

Verse:
        Am Em
Oh I'm often false explaining but to her it plays out all the same
        G D
And although I'm left defeated it get's held against my name
                 Am Em
I know you got plenty to offer baby but I guess I've taken quite enough
       G D
Well I'm some stain there on your bedsheet you're my diamond in the rough

Chorus:
               Am Em
Darling I'll bathe your skin I'll even wash your clothes

[Verse 1]
G B
There once was a bittersweet man and they called him, “Lemon Boy”
C Am D
He was growing in my garden and I pulled him out by his hair like a weed

And like weeds do he only came and grew back again
C Am D
So, I figured this time I might as well let him be

[Chorus]
C G B Em D
Lemon Boy and me started to get along together
C G B Em D
I’d help him plant his seeds and we mowed the lawn in bad weather
C G B Em D C
It’s actually pretty easy being nice to a bitter boy like him
D* G
So, I got myself a citrus friend

[Verse 2]
B
But soon his bittersweet started to rub off on me
C Am D
You’d think smelling like lemon zest would be pretty neat
G B
I found out that my friends are more of the savoury type
C Am D
And they weren’t too keen on compromising with a nice lemon pie

[Chorus]
C G B Em D
So Lemon Boy and me, we just gotta get along together
C G B Em D
I’ll help him plant his seeds and we’ll mow the lawn in bad weather
C G B Em D C
It’s actually pretty easy being nice to a bitter boy like him
D* G
So, I got myself a citrus friend

[Bridge]
