Verse 1:
D
Where'd all the time go?
                 G
It's starting to fly.
D
See how the hands go;
            G
Waving goodbye.

Em A
And you know I get so forgetful
                     D
when I look in your eyes.

Verse 2:
D
Now she's walking backwards
            G
through a parade.
D
And I'm stuck in the shadow
              G
blocking the shade.

Em A
And there ain't no way to sweep up the
                 D
mess that we've made

Chorus:
Em A
She gets dressed up like a pillow so she's
           G
always in bed
                Gbm Bm
Flowers for the sick and dead
             G Gbm Bm
She's on the go, way too fast and way too slow
             G Gbm Bm
She'll turn to stone at hospitals and funeral homes
             G A
and when the fog rises somebody sighs
                          D
who is not in disguise anymore

Verse 3:
D
There's nothing to keep you
                G
from falling in love.
D
It starts at the bottom
                 G
and comes from above.
Em A D
Like pieces of a puzzle, like a hand in a glove

Chorus:
Em A G
She gets dressed up like a pillow so she's always in bed
                Gbm Bm
Flowers for the sick and dead
             G Gbm Bm
She's on the go, way too fast and way too slow
                 G Gbm Bm
She'll turn and stop at hospitals and funeral homes
              G A D
and when the tide rises somebody sinks and is gone in the blink of an eye

Biography

Dr. Dog is a indie rock group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania which formed in 1999. The current lineup consists of Scott “Taxi” McMicken (vocals, guitar), Toby “Tables” Leaman (vocals, bass), Zach “Text” Miller (keyboards, guitar), Frank “Thanks” McElroy (guitar) and Eric “Teach” Slick (drums).

“There’s a little folk, blues, indie rock, soul, bluegrass–and a whole lot of down-home harmonizing. It conjures images of old friends sitting on a porch swapping instruments and just letting the tape recorder run.” – Doug Wallen
