Verse:
       A A Gbm E
If you hate the taste of wine
           A A Gbm E
Why do you drink it till you're blind?
         A A D E
And if you swear that there's no truth and who cares
             Gbm E
How come you say it like you're right?

            A A Gbm E
Why are you scared to dream of God
              A A Gbm E
When it's salvation that you want?
          A A D E
You see, stars that clear have been dead for years
        Gbm E
But the idea just lives on

       A A Gbm E
In our wheels that roll around
      A A Gbm E
As we move over the ground
        A A D E
And all day it seems we've been in between
  Gbm E
a past and future town

Chorus:
       Gbm E
We are nowhere and it's now
       Gbm E
We are nowhere and it's now
          D E
An like a ten-minute dream in the passenger seat
          A E Asus2
While the world was flying by
               E E7
I haven't been gone very long but it feels like a lifetime

Interlude: A Gbm A A A Gbm A A E E7 E E7

Bridge:
Bm E
I've been sleeping so strange at night
Bm E
Side effects they don't advertise
Bm E
I've been sleeping so strange
Bm E
With a head full of pesticide

Interlude: A A Gbm E A A Gbm E

Verse:
            A A Gbm E
I've got no plans and too much time
        A A Gbm E
I feel too restless to unwind
           A A D E
I'm always lost in thought as I walk a block
      Gbm E
To my favorite neon sign

          A A Gbm E
Where the waitress looks concerned
       A A Gbm E
But she never says a word
              A A D E
Just turns the jukebox on and we hum along
      Gbm E
And I smile back at her

       A A Gbm E
And my friend comes after work
         A A Gbm E
When the features start to blur
               A A D E
She says these bars are filled with things that kill
           Gbm E
By now you probably should have learned

Chorus:
           Gbm E
Did you forget that yellow bird?
                 Gbm E
How could you forget your yellow bird?
               D
And she took a small silver wreath and
       E
pinned it onto me
          A E Asus2
She said this one will bring you love
            E E7
And I don't know if it's true but I keep it for good luck

Outro:
   A Gbm A A A Gbm A A
   A Gbm A A A Gbm A A A

I find -1 the easiest and it sounds pretty good ! If you find the Bbsus4 a little challenging, it only comes up once and it’s fine to leave it out

Steven Cochran

I woke up with this song in my head. I’ve been playing it all day. I did it in -4 Key of C. Fairly easy to play that way.

Album: I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning

From the same album
  1. Lua
  2. Poison Oak
  3. We Are Nowhere and It’s Now
  1. Not yet in this list? Request!
