Intro -x2-: Dm F

Verse 1:
      Dm F
And I held the breath inside my lungs for days
      Dm F
And I saw myself as one of many waves
        Bb Gm F Dm F
When I knew that I'd become the ocean's slave I just stayed

       Dm F
And we carried forward all the water's past
       Dm F
Of the waves I was not first I was not last
       Bb Gm F Dm D7
If we saw a boat afloat we'd take the mast, so fast

Chorus:
          Bb F C
Where's a part of it that I miss
       Bb F A
At the heart of it your cold kiss
         Bb F C
From the start of it I know this
               Bb
Oh where's the part of it

Interlude:

Bb Gm F Dm F

Verse 2:
      Dm F
And before too long the waves grew out of hand
         Dm F
And they worked to keep the sea at their command
        Bb Gm F Dm D7
And the only thing they feared it seemed the sand, the dry land

Chorus:
          Bb F C
There's a part of it that I miss
       Bb F A
At the heart of it your cold kiss
         Bb F C
From the start of it I know this
               Bb
Oh where's the part of it

Interlude:
Dm F Bb Gm F A
Dm F Bb Gm F A
Dm F
Dm F

Verse 3:
         Dm F
From the water there was born a bright blue roar
      Dm F
As it rolled and formed and calmed the ocean's floor
            Bb Gm F Dm D7
And then it finally rose and broke upon the shore no more

Chorus:
          Bb F C
There's a part of it that I miss
       Bb F A
At the heart of it your cold kiss
         Bb F C
From the start of it I know this
               Bb
Oh where's the part of it

          Bb F C
There's a part of it that I miss
       Bb F A
At the heart of it your cold kiss
         Bb F C
From the start of it I know this
               Bb
Oh where's the part of it

               Bb
Oh where's the part of it

Biography

Bahamas is Canadian musician Afie Jurvanen (born April 28, 1981, in Toronto).

Jurvanen isn’t from the Bahamas; he’s a Finnish-Canadian raised in Barrie (a working class town in rural Ontario). Since 2009 he’s been making music under the name Bahamas–writing songs about sunsets, love affairs, and making out with crooked smiles. Through simple arrangements, he charts an escape route from the snow belt to the coral reefs. His album, Barchords, was released in 2012 to critical praise:
