Intro: E Dbm A

Verse 1:
   E
I met up with an acrobat in Brooklyn or some place like that
                                                               Dbm A
With life and taxis flying past, we tore that dance hall down
 E
Pocket change and subway cars, our big ideas filled empty bars

You might be from the moon or Mars
                                   Dbm A
Either way, I'm never going home

Pre-Chorus:
    E
So let's hang an anchor from the sun
           E
There's a million city lights, but

Chorus:
        A E
 You're number one
            B Dbm A
You're the reason I'm still up at dawn
         E B
 Just to see your face
          A E B
We'll be going strong with the vampires, baby
 Dbm A E B nc
We belong, we belong awake, swinging from the fire escape

Verse 2:
       E
I was drinking from the wishing well, some junkie metal head hotel
                                                   Dbm A
When we boarded the carousel, the roof was caving in
 E
On the stage, my ox blood friend was singing songs about the end
                                                                             Dbm A
The bankers in the lion's den were dropping lines like beggars in the snow

Pre-Chorus:
    E
So let's hang an anchor from the sun
           E
There's a million city lights, but

Chorus:
        A E
 You're number one
            B Dbm A
You're the reason I'm still up at dawn
         E B
 Just to see your face
          A E B
We'll be going strong with the vampires, baby
 Dbm A E B A E B
We belong, we belong awake, swinging from the fire escape
   A E B
 Swinging from the fire escape,
  nc
 Swinging from the fire escape

Bridge:
E
Walking home, your hand in mine, tattoos on the river line
     E
The morning birds are taking flight
                                           Dbm A
Either way, I thought that you should know

Chorus:
        A E
 You're number one
            B Dbm A
You're the reason I'm still up at dawn

 Swinging from the fire escape
   Dbm A E B
 Swinging from the fire escape,
   A E B
 Swinging from the fire escape
