Most of 21’s lyrics refer to Adele working through the ending of a relationship including this song. She recalled to The Daily Telegraph; “When I did ‘Someone Like You’ live on Jools Holland, I got so upset wondering and hoping and wishing that my ex would be watching it, I went back to my dressing room and sobbed. Making a record is like standing in the middle of Trafalgar Square naked, you let everyone see your good bits and bad bits. I don’t know what possesses me to do that, but I’m not good at anything else.” -Source Someone Like You Songfacts-.

  1. Does anyone know why my g string sounds buzzy when I hold it down on the first fret?

  2. if e is hard play em intead!

  3. Bella.0303

If e is hard for you bar the fourth fret but mute the A string. It’s a million times easier

  4. where are the tabs?

  5. Esme and SmileyUkePlayer: you can try to play E7. You can check the chord chart to learn it, although it doesn’t sound as good with this song

  6. Really good, sounds even better if u only play the chord that it says once, it actually sounds really coolioko!!!

  7. SmileyUkulelePlayer

Oh my gosh Esme you get it too!!!!!!!! I can NEVER play E! I always have to ask other people for a different chord to play. But the song sounds good…
this is such a beautiful song. Wish I could play E…!

  8. In the intro and chorus, instead of E block first fret on the G and C strings with your pointer finger, sounds a lot better

  9. Katrina101.23.

    Play E as 4-4-4-2.

  10. also adding to music_defines_me_ comment it also sounds better if you play the A chord
    G-6-
    C-4-
    E-5-
    A-0-
    and the Gbm
G-6- (hold this one down with the thumb)
    C-6-
    E-5-
    A-3-
    and the D
G-2- (just bar the 2 fret)
    C-2-
    E-2-
    A-5-

  11. For the E I do exactly like Bm but settle down my finger on 5 fret. Its easier for fast getting.

  12. E Is hard… Dont worry your not alone ITS SO FRUSTRATING!!! but if you get it right it sounds good.

  13. Am I the only one whose life is ruined by E??? It doesn’t sound well, I can’t get to put my fingers in the right positions!!

    • When I first learnt E, I ended up just playing a simple chord like C and then changing to E continuously on loop so my fingers memorized the position. I think that it helps but really you just have to practice!

    • ikr? it really doesn’t work for me

    • the easiest alternate for E is to bar the 4th fret and must the 4th (highest) string. its the same exact notes, just easier. so it should look like this
      |–|–|–|m|–
      |–|–|–|O|–
      |–|–|–|O|–
      |–|–|–|O|–

    • TwentyOnePilotsGirl l-/

      You are not alone!!!!!

    • I totally agree. You are not alone!

  14. D A Bm7 G
    C E A E C <- The strings
    If you play the 3 first strings like that: 3 -2 – 1 – 3 – 2

it sound origannaly like the piano part

  15. maddiepavek

try plucking the intro chords as: C string (2), E string(3), G string (1) as such: 2,3,1,3,1,3, for each chord

  16. if you play it the way i’s written, you can play with the recording.

  17. Yeah, Hec’s right, +3 is easiest, and it sounds pretty good. It’s also easy to sing to if you have a medium to high girl’s voice…

  18. If you play the first 3 strings like 1-2-3-2; 4 times for every chord it sounds like the paino part

  19. i think -2 sounds the best plus it’s easy

  20. +3 is easiest – C G Am F
