Intro -x2-: A B Dbm E

Verse 1:
A B
You know me the best
            Dbm E
You know my worst, see me hurt, but you don't judge
A B Dbm E
That, right there, is the scariest feeling
A B Dbm
Opening and closing up again
                    E
I've been hurt so I don't trust
A B Dbm E
Now here we are, staring at the ceiling

Pre-Chorus:
                        A B Dbm E
I've said those words before but it was a lie
                   A B Dbm E
And you deserve to hear them a thousand times

Chorus:
                      A
If all it is is eight letters
       B Dbm E
Why is it so hard to say?
          A
If all it is is eight letters
       B Dbm E
Why am I in my own way?
         A
Why do I pull you close
    B Dbm E
And then ask you for space
          A B
If all it is is eight letters
                     Dbm E
Why is it so hard to say?

Interlude -x2-: A B Dbm E

Verse 2:
          A
Isn't it amazing
           B
How almost every line
       Dbm
On our hands align
          E
When your hand's in mine
              A
It's like I'm whole again
      B
Isn't that a sign
         Dbm E
I should speak my mind

Pre-Chorus:
                      A B Dbm E
I've said those words before but it was a lie
                   A B Dbm E
And you deserve to hear them a thousand times

Chorus:
                      A
If all it is is eight letters
       B Dbm E
Why is it so hard to say?
          A
If all it is is eight letters
       B Dbm
Why am I in my own way?
         A
Why do I pull you close
    B Dbm E
And then ask you for space
          A
If all it is is eight letters
       B Dbm E
Why is it so hard to say? -woah, oh yeah-

Interlude -x2-: A B Dbm E

Bridge:
A B
 When I close my eyes
Dbm E
It's you there in my mind
A B Dbm E
 When I close my eyes

Chorus:
                      A
If all it is is eight letters
       B Dbm E
Why is it so hard to say?
                     A
If all it is is eight letters
       B Dbm E
Why am I in my own way?
         A
Why do I pull you close
    B Dbm E
And then ask you for space
                      A
If all it is is eight letters
       B Dbm
Why is it so hard to say?

Outro:
          A
If all it is is eight letters
       B Dbm
When I close my eyes
         E
It's you there in my mind -It's only you-
A B Dbm E
 When I close my eyes
                      A
If all it is is eight letters
       B Dbm
When I close my eyes
         E
It's you there in my mind -you-
