Intro: D

Verse 1:
D
I say yes, yes, yes
D
'Til I'm sick and I say no
D
'Cause my body's breaking down
                        A
And I'm ignoring my own soul
         D
Turn the lights out on the porch
D
So it looks like no one's home
        G
And I'm sitting with my shadow
        D G A
But I'd rather be alone

Pre-Chorus:
      Em7
'Cause left to my own devices
D A Em7
I will tear me down
Em7
I'll let the snow keep falling
D A Em7
Swallow up my sound
Em7
What's wrong with finding refuge
D A Em A
In the white out?

Chorus:
G D A
I'm in the backyard, searching for silence
                              G
Ignoring the sirens screaming by
            D A
Moving with caution, I follow my footprints
                                     Em
Back to the place I said I wanted to die
   D A
am I still here?
                         Em
Tapping the glass on the mirror
        D A
I'm not lost, well, I don't know
                                  D
Let's say I'm taking the long way home

Verse 2:
D
I put my darkest thoughts on ice
D
Watch 'em drift out on the water
     G
I forget the things that weigh me down
    A D
Can float within another time and space
D
I'm missing days, you can see it on my face
       G A
I'm so sorry that I'm checking out and pushing you away

Pre-Chorus:
      Em7
'Cause left to my own devices
D A Em7
I will tear me down
Em7
I'll let the snow keep falling
D A Em7
Swallow up my sound
Em7
What's wrong with finding refuge
D A Em A
In the white out?

Chorus:
G D A
I'm in the backyard, searching for silence
                              G
Ignoring the sirens screaming by
            D A
Moving with caution, I follow my footprints
                                     Em
Back to the place I said I wanted to die
   D A
am I still here?

Tapping the glass on the mirror
